A bit of context here.....that comment is in regards to the silver-spoon-in-the-mouth generation in that area. Many TEENS have cars like this, and kids in their 20's have full on supercars. All bought by their uber-wealthy parents. It's been somewhat of a problem with these kids street racing and hooning it up.

Fairly standard in many countries. More than 20mph over here is considered hooning; loss of licence for 3 months and car for one month, even if it's not yours (better hope you don't get caught in a rental!)

I wonder what the design speed is for the road?

I've had some driving adventures up there with memebers from this board. I don't think the statute of limitations have run out so I won't mention names. One of our super moderators looped it doing close to triple digits in a well set up 944 trying to keep up with a couple of well set up 911s. I recall a very upset girlfriend. It was a crazy time, lots of fun, but we were lucky. Sounds like these guys were maybe warned earlier.

First one getting towed looks like a 993 biturbo.

The Sea-to-Sky seems like a pretty stupid place to speed. Sure it's pretty, but you'd have to be doing a lot more than 125kph to be having fun, IMO.

Lots of Porsche envy in the comments on that article.

The way to make it fun would be to cinch up the belts really tight, leave it in first or second gear, squint your eyes, don't look at the speedometer, and grit your teeth like you're at 10/10ths.

I think he was using the 130km/h figure...which is 81 MPH

Another reason group runs aren't a good idea.

Not as much, no....don't lead, follow and don't do lane changes excessively. In CA...as you should know, there is always some asshat wanting to pass a Porsche.

I take it easy on public roads, especially on the hwy. You can be next to a van passing you doing 20 mph more and the chip will still put his radar on you instead. I do think the cops enjoy busting guys in nice cars.
That said, you go to fast, your fault. G |

Canada's speed limits seem absurdly low. The last time I was in Ontario, to pick up a motorcycle that I had bought, I had to drive on endless country roads to a town in the middle of nowhere, at a mind numbing speed of 50 miles per hour. Saw more cops than about anything else. I was glad to get back across the border.
Nothing personal, I just hate driving there. JR |

They were pretty silly after being warned the previous week. But having been on that run one Saturday morning, I can tell you that likely the only cars on the road at that time were the Porsches...and the cop. But our speed laws and many of the limits are laughable. People are so bored driving modern cars at posted speeds that huge numbers of them are driving while distracted. Our own insurance company says that excess speed is rarely a factor in MVA's...distracted driving is #1. I think this war on speed has broad public appeal (especially the public display of four Porsches in line waiting to be towed) and generates great cash flow ...but is it making the roads more safe? I don't think so. Cheers
