I know a gold dealer who says you should always take possession. If you go the GLD or other paper route, how do you know they really have the shiny stuff in the vault? "Hey I have 1,000 oz of bullion in my home safe, want to buy a paper certificate that says you own 100 oz of it? Not really.

Depends on your needs, both have some value.
That is the gist of the matter. During the last peak, I was going to sell 15 oz but I was traveling & missed it since it required a visit to my safe deposit box & the retail counter of the one bank here that has a gold exchange. By the time I was available, the price had changed.

But physical sure is purty to look at & fondle.

I keep a 1/10th oz on my desk for daily fondling.

The world has changed. If things get really bad, gas, guns, ammo, land and seeds are what will be in demand. Gold does nothing to help you immediately. Not even sure people would give it a second look. In the brave new world it might if you are still alive. It all depends on what type of scenario you are envisioning.

If it comes down to bullets & seeds, I don't want to be around anymore. Really. So I will use my gold for one last blow out party.
