Further reason why I help my 5 year old daughter shoot her grandpa's .22 when we visit them in the country. I will absolutely encourage my daughter to carry when she can handle it. Daughters give you so much more to worry about......

It's a cool story, but it's interesting that another story -- of the uncle who shot the 8 year-old girl dressed as a skunk for Halloween because he thought she was... wait for it... a skunk -- didn't get put up here.
And by the way, Kennesaw GA isn't a particularly safe place just because everyone has a gun. 4 people were shot in Jan '10 there; 2 died. Not much balance in the Pelican community on the pluses and minuses of arming everyone...

In 1982, the town of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed an ordinance which required all heads of household to have at least one gun in the house. The burglary rate immediately dropped an astounding 89 percent. Ten years after the law was passed, the burglary rate was still 72 percent less than it was in 1981.
So in the gun lobby's dream world, where everyone is armed, why wouldn't the crooks just shoot first and ask questions later?
