I wish everybody would keep their global warming thoughts over on PARF...

Wish all you want.

If wishes were Indians, buffaloes would be nickels.

Global warming is not political, nor is it religious. It is fact.

If facts bother you, stick your head back in the sand...

or exercise a little self fu_cking restraint and don't click on the thread.

How much did the tooth fairy leave under your pillow this year?

Now...any more eastern seaboard Pelicans care to check in?

Both your belief in tooth fairies and your disbelief of scientific facts explaining global warming belong over on PARF...

Umm, technically, it is a theory at this point.... allegedly a well supported theory backed with lots of evidence, but still, a theory.

If you wish to discuss the Global warming debate (if it were a fact, there wouldn't be any debate now, would there?) then please start another thread, and keep this thread focused on what's going on along in the North East. For a lot of folks, this is the only connection to and from the devastation.

Still haven't heard from Ronnin yet -- hope he and his loved ones are ok...

^^ this, And wondering how the Vin man is doing? Bet he is at work for the time being.

You N E pelicans do check in here when you can to let us know how you are doing, and if there is anything you need that we can help with.

Wishing you all the best and some mellow weather for a while so you can recover.

Cheers Richard

Well, so is gravity. You could probably disprove it by lightly stepping out of a 10th-story window. :)

Well with the winds that Sandy brought to our shores, I may have landed in a location other than what the laws of gravity would predict!

At this point, I'd say that 75% of the people I know and work with are still out of power and water. And now gasoline availability is becoming an issue. And that's folks from central and northern NJ - which wasn't hit as bad as the coastal areas, not to mention Queens and lower Manhattan.

Gonna take some time for things to return to normal around here, and for some, things will never be the same as before.

His crew rescued a rescue crew from an area. The stuff real hero's are made of. He's been deployed since Sunday night & still working.

information board

Z Man made a good point that this may be some peoples only source of info.
With Battery power for devices being at a premium doing a lot of surfing for info just wears them down faster.

Just an idea but perhaps people that do need specific info can ask it hear and all of us with better access could find out the answers and post them here.

Z-man 11-01-2012 01:36 PM

I 'stickeyed' this thread.

Pictures of the aftermath here.

86 ssinit 11-01-2012 02:19 PM

Made it into city today. All railroads down or very few. Con Ed vault blew up downtown will be awhile before powers back on. 38st down is out. All tunnels closed looks like water crossed the FDR drive. Will take time to get NYC running again. Now there is a gas shortage drove through queens all gas stations out of gas. 3 hr line by me to get gas. Somebody got to help us out soon still 75% of island out. Now no gas to run generators and its getting colder at night.

the point is not the reason for sea level rise - it is the fact that sea levels are rising and have risen

lower Manhattan is imperiled, as is the Jersey shore and many other parts of the US

I would also caution against letting a PARFer disinformation campaign color people's views of scientifically established facts.

86 ssinit 11-01-2012 02:25 PM

Long beach area is closed. Streets covered in sand. There a tough group of people down there. Probably on the beach drinking beer and burning wood.

daepp 11-01-2012 02:32 PM

Webb - please don't PARF this up.

Thanks for that info. Hoping our RoninLB and his bride are doing just that.
Left voice mail on Marianne's cell. No word as of yet. But I'd imagine even cell service is spotty with power out. Agreed on the tough...at least if Ron is any example of the people there. :D
