Picked this up this week
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445046858.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445047298.jpg Has an interesting history. My friends Spoon shop buys spoons from the local PD's. This came out of the Somerset county Sheriffs office in Maine. I want to look up the case history and see what the story is. The ATF cut the firing pin and sent it back. I have ordered a replacement pin. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445046965.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445047010.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445047081.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1445047592.jpg |

I have two black rifles that I consider to be tools. Then I have older steel and wood guns that I consider to be works of art that bring great joy to hold, look at and fire occasionally. I guess that in the case of the black rifles, "you don't have to like them but will be happy they are there if things go to hell in a hand basket"!

Bersa Thunder .380 Duotone straight out of the box, and in need of a cleaning:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446270552.jpg Swapped out the grips with Laminate Wood grips - which do you like better - stock grips or the wooden ones? The wood grips are a bit thicker, but since I don't carry in NJ, it isn't an issue... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446269958.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446270036.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446270340.jpg The Bersa next to my Walther PP, the 'inspiration' behind the Thunder: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446270485.jpg |

this is my front yard. and yes. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446618017.jpg great rifle. but that's a lot of money for someone who already has too many guns. |

I love this thread, because I find people's decisions on personal firearms interesting. I cannot fathom why Z-man would get a compact .380, much less two when he can't carry in NJ. Byron is always posting tactical stuff (often shotguns) that almost seem to come from comic books. And so forth. But the stuff is cool. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla, if you're into James Bond or Mack Bolan or Jack O'Connor, or Elmer Keith it doesn't matter, the firearms are interesting, and it is fun to see what interests different people.

As for the Bersa - believe it or not, once in a while they do let me out of the socialist state of New Jersey. ;-). My bro-in-law lives in AZ, for example. And you can get out of state ccw's in states like Utah and Flordia.... But ultimately, my hope is that there will be a call for national reciprocity for ccw, which would greatly help clear up the confusion about where you have a right to bear arms. Wishful thinking? Maybe. -Z |

I carry everywhere. Where it's illegal I just make sure the gun is smaller and in deep concealment. In AZ size and concealability don't matter. |

I didn't make the Moose hunting comment sarcastically. I actually have an early 50's FN Mauser 30-06. It was my father's hunting rifle. Damn thing is heavy and still kicks like a mule. Unless he's got a nice scope on it already, $700 seems high. Lots around in the mid-$500. Things to watch for are cracked stocks (common) and pitted bores. For the same money you can get a Rem 700 in 308. |
