2Post Lift- Which Brand or Company to buy

Looking into buying a 2 post lift for my garage. Height not an issue. Looking to purchase one good for 10,000 pounds. What brand or company is one that's trusted and safe? Thanks. Schamp

LOL. Got to have something to pick up my 911. I either need a lift or bigger jack stands. I finding that I need to jack the car up a bit higher that I used to. Schamp

Lose that beer gut!

I'll be interested in your responses, as I will probably be buying a lift for my new 3rd car garage next spring.

Hey Rick, how about a Ben Wil? My buddy bought a couple of good late-model used ones for his busy shop, they're awesome. I think he paid $1500 each but of course you need to pay someone to install them.

EDIT: Just spoke to him, Ben Wil is no longer available new. They went out of business ~10 years ago. He got some used ones, though.

His order from best to cheapest: Mohawk/Rotary/Forward...then a lot of cheaper ones. He said that you would spend $13k for a Rotary, (is this right?), but it's the one for Porsches and Ferraris + other low-slung vehicles.

Never heard of Ben Wil. I have never had an issue with a Rotary, they are the best I have ever used and I trust one with my life every day

If money were no object Mohawk!
Look for them used on Craigslist. Mohawk System 1 will do 10,000 lbs.

Maxjax interest me - don't have a lot of height in my garage. Not attempting to hijack (this next question may help to answer yours), but does anyone know much about them?

Old school. All america steel... My Benwil 5k pounder is made with 1/4" american steel U-beams. Bought it used INSTALLED for $1100.... ...but had to buy a $400 rotary phase converter for it.

You can still get all parts for the Benwil. used in a lot of local shops here.

Rotary second most common that i've seen...

Just for some of the folks above...I don't recall the Maxjax or anything sold at HF lifting anything over 6,000lbs. I like the Maxjax though...nice to be able to move it around the garage and store it out of the way.

Semi-hijack, but does anyone use a two post for vehicle storage? I'd like to stack cars in my garage, but also take advantage of the service versatility of the two post vs a four post.

I have no idea what make it is. It is very old. It was $400 on Craigslist.

It has two very large ball screws driving the lift arms. The right screw is driven from the top through a 90 degree gear reducer, and the left screw is driven by a chain across the bottom.

There is nothing special about the floor. There is a large support area on the bottom of each column.

Here's what I have, no problems storing a car on the lift. It's an eagle lift, 9K capacity. My only (minor) issue is getting lowered cars on it, I drive up on boards if needed. Floor for this particular one needs to be 4 inches thick, we made it 8 where the posts are just in case. I love it, makes working on the cars way easier.
