For a good cause. Ever wonder if you could do the full miles solo?

Here's a pic of my Bridgeston MB-S. Their first suspension mountain bike. Bought it new over 20 years ago, still in excellent condition with almost all original components. I did upgrade to rapid fire shifters before it left the shop, came from the factory with the older, rotary shifters. Nice triple butted, lugged chromoly frame.

mod- think you need to lighten up. In case you haven't noticed, the last two weeks there have been organized Global Naked Bike Rides. 8,000 riders in Portland alone. The image depicted is pure humor - not suggestive -. My grand daughters sent it to me for laughs. :D

The image posted was a directive of saving fuel and alternative transportation. It was a printed poster in the thousands and publically displayed.

To further educate you about the 'naked rides':

The ride was originally done to graphically portray the fact that compared to someone in a car, we might as well be out on the road, naked, for all the protection we have.. We are vulnerable road users, as simple as that.

It has also developed some subthemes, like freedom, and a carnival atmosphere, and even costumes to enhance the nakedness.

No pictures of naked people

seems like a pretty simple rule to me.

I rode this rig from Sydney to Adelaide. Would have made it to Perth, but I ran out of beer just west of Port Augusta.

Hey, where you them gum rubber hoods?

Thanks for the comments guys. I've got about 125 miles on it so far. Believe it or not, no fit adjustments needed. I've got my main dimensions dialed in from my other bikes and set it up accordingly. It's a comfortable riding bike and extremely stable. Very, very pleased with it. The hoods are original. The brakes were a take-off set that included everything, even the Campy cables. First friction-shifter bike I've ridden in 20 years

Awesome on-board video of the Stage 5 sprint at the Tour de Suisse! Who says cycling is not a contact sport?

^^Curt- great stuff.

Our vintage Santana. Hope wifey comes to terms and accepts the fact that this is meant to 'haul', literally. I don't want to sell it but sad to see it not being used enough. Can make or break any relationship. Swapping pedals (lock her in some SPD dual platform) and maybe a Brooks B67 for her might convince otherwise. Bi-plane fork crown, pre-OS tube days but has a neat fat oval bottom bracket connector. Phil Wood hubs. Bit of French going on with randonneur bars, TA cranks, bar-end shifters, Mafac canti's front and rear with Scott Matthauser heat-sink pads and a rear drum as third brake. 40 spoke laced. Various gear set and shown with the wall climber. Bike begs to be ridden hard and no leg draggers.

Is that Me-hee-co, hour record?

jyl 06-21-2014 12:34 AM

Campy gum hoods are on eBay. Repros, look good. Usually $60-80.

CurtEgerer 06-21-2014 03:37 AM

Yup, that's the hour record. Even in that shot, you can see the special titanium stem made by Detroit's Pino Moroni. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1403346680.jpg

Supposedly, there are 2 versions of the repop gum hoods - one is very good, the other not so much. I've been treating my originals with glycerin although there are some other preservation methods too.

Re: Santana Tandem. If you're selling, I have a friend who might be interested. Although shipping might be big $$$$.

Special Merckx with 60 degree seat tube and looonnnggg wheelbase designed for the cobbles. 1993 with Steve Bauer on board. Apparently, it didn't catch on .....

jyl 06-22-2014 07:33 PM

OMG how are you supposed to get your ass off the saddle with a crank forward bike like that. Bleeding through the chamois can't be fun.
