Uhh, might want to let the glue dry a bit before riding it... Not sure what glue you used but in the old days it was a multi-step process that took more than a day.

Benefits of technology.... They make a double sided tape now. Stick and ride!

Not sure I'd trust a tape...

Watch those corners...

I hear tapes are fine, but there's reason that glue took a little elbow grease to get off the rim. They never dry completely. I would use the tape if its a new rem or one that scrape clean, but never over old semi-dried tubular glue. Glue pump up tires to 120 and let dry over night and corner away.

porsche4life 04-29-2013 06:59 PM

As easy as the glue let loose, the tape can't be much worse... ;)

I've seen the stuff we stick up with double stick... The right take and good surface prep make for a damn fine bond

I remember someone taking off on a test ride right after installing a new set of Egyptian Cotton Continentals ($180 a tire in 1984 or 85:eek:) on a newly built Guerciotti .
I don't have to tell you guys what happened:(

Has he got any retired frames he wants to unload?

mrybczyn 04-29-2013 08:56 PM

Ascente Sprint! Some sort of Canada-only taiwanese import from the 90s? Just rescued it at the local recycled bikes shop.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367294126.jpg

Not much, seems like a lot of them pop up for sale, plus not a high end build.

If you want something cool to ride, but are "old school" like me, there are some cool "retro" bikes from SE, Skyway, GHP, or if you want collectible, 70s & 80s, certain 90s.
Plus, like our Porsches, part of the fun is building the project. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367345128.jpg

“Our engineers have tested counterfeit frames in our lab and frankly they don’t hold up. They failed our impact and fatigue tests and the aluminum head tube cups de-bonded, making steering vague and loose — that is simply not safe,” says Andrew Love, head of brand security at Specialized. “The counterfeiters just want to make a sale; they have zero interest in the customer. Our product integrity and rider safety are very personal for us.”

Your buddy has awesome taste :D

I know my Dogma2 is the best bike I have ever ridden, period. Does everything exceptionally well, and is comfortable to boot.

The Raleigh Twenty folder. After looking over the numerous sites on these things, I was thinking of modding it up and converting to a folding stripped roadie but now wifey wants it! Good for a pit bike, light rides for the campground. I hadn't realized its a chick magnet... ha. Big budget buy was $10.

From the Vintage Brit site:

A VINTAGE BICYCLE JOKE

A vintage bicycle enthusiast was out for a walk when he met a fellow vintage bike enthusiast who was riding toward him on a wonderful old bicycle.

The first vintage enthusiast was stunned. ‘Where did you get that fantastic machine?’ he asked.

‘You’ll never believe it,’ said the second enthusiast. ‘I was walking home yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up to me on this bike. She threw the bike onto the ground, took all her clothes off, and said: ‘Take what you want.’

The first vintage enthusiast nodded approvingly. ‘Good choice …her clothes probably wouldn’t have fitted you anyway.’
