Picked this up today. Seller only lived about 2 blocks away! He's originally from Great Britain and bought this bike new from the factory in Connecticut.

$300.

Fully kept up and in near perfect condition. Super light too!

I always thought it was to get them as close and low into the draft as possible.
It doesn't make much sense in my pic, but with the newer bikers drafting a motorcycle on the salt flats at 190k mph, it makes sense. (to me

Nah. We used to motorpace on the velo w/ normal track bikes.
On the road, I towed a couple jr nat'l champs around behind my ducati at 30 mph in second.

Nice find. Tough to go wrong with Cannondale.

I'm trying a non-padded featherweight carbon saddle on my gravel bike. So far, so good.

Except for the graphics that's exactly the same non-padded carbon fiber saddle I have on my singlespeed neighborhood bike. It's surprisingly comfy.

I think it was about 10 bucks on AliExpress, but that was pre-pandemic.

^^^ yeah, sort of counter-intuitive at first glance. But the padding is in your shorts, so why have it in the saddle too I suppose. I did a 32-miler with it on the Tarmac last week and no problems at all.

My Time came with a Time carbon saddle just like the one above. I rode it for some time and it was OK but on the longer then 40-50 milers, it started to develop some discomfort. I think some of it is in my head and can't get around a none padded saddle. I gave in and put a modern Concord back on there. All is well after that.

Are there big demands on vintage mtb? I have a GT full susp. frame that developed a crack on it. Back then, everyone tells me it can be fixed but I never did it since I was not too into mtb. I still have the frame and fork somewhere. Everything was stripped off it and given away for those who needed a part or two.

This is fantastic stuff - Descent Disciples with SAFA Brian. The guy is basically nuts. This is a good one with him following none other than Romain Bardet and Kevin Vermaerk! At some point, Bardet is taking off his jacket no-handed at 30MPH. And then there's a close call with oncoming traffic and loose gravel on the inside of a couple of corners. Just keep repeating to yourself, "I have trust in my tires, I have trust in my tires ...."

New bike day.

Since my Santa Cruz Hightower got stolen I'd been casually shopping around and trying as many bikes as I could. I tried a couple Pivots (switchblade and trail 429) and I was all set to buy the switchblade, but I flaked on pulling the trigger.

Well, it was meant to be because I got the opportunity to demo the 2024 Specialized Stumpjumper lineup and after trying the Stumpjumper EVO and the regular Stumpjumper I pulled the trigger on a new Stumpjumper Pro, which is the highest trim before S-works.

Took it on its maiden voyage yesterday in the wet Santa Cruz mountains. Really pumped to be back on a Spesh. This is my 3rd stumpy, last one being an ‘09. Of course nothing feels familiar but compared to my old Hightower and the 2 Pivots I rode it’s the most confidence inspiring and the new Sram t type grupo blows everything else out of the water. This bike is incredibly fast, smooth and quiet.

I need to dial the suspension in a little more and also the micro adjust on the derailleur needs some tweaking for a couple of the gears, but besides that it’s pretty much the shred sled I’ve been needing in my life since the Hightower got jacked. Looking forward to tearing it up this winter and also heading to Tahoe next summer to do some rippin.
