Crud.....one of the ears on the RockShox is busted off. Look like evilBay, 26 inch front ends appear to be cheap. I need a 1 1/8 neck, 7 plus inches, threadless.

One bad thing about living in a climate where there is a winter season is the interruption of my trail riding. After last year's snowmageddon I was determined that I'll keep on riding through this next winter season. I just built this last week. Good experience with The Pros Closet on ebay, wouldn't hesitate bidding on things from them in the future.

Pic I took today. Note the material thickness where the freewheel flange was hacked off. Heavy duty.

Yeah, it was a junk wheel/hub with a nice freewheel. Every trick in the book was used to remove it. Then came the saw! Shocked by the thickness of the alloy.

Not my project actually but I'll find out what freewheel was salvaged ...

And surely a candidate for strangest bike race ever was the Bordeaux-Paris (last run in 1985). It started at 3AM and covered 570K's in one day! The last half or so was motor-paced behind small motorbikes. Each rider had 2 motorbikes, one taking over as the other re-fueled. I think the race was limited to around 20-25 riders.

One has to be nuts to ride behind a derny. Well, one of my dreams was to ride a derny, not as a bike racer but a derny rider. I had honda 50cc scooter while attending college. I was able to fit a 24 inch roller 1" off my wheel and motor pace the bastards on my training ride. it was fun and we averaged about 30 mph for our 3+ mile loop 10 times. Many of them hung on for the whole ride. One day, the cops showed and put a stop to that. I played dumb and claim a bunch of bike rider were tailgating me and I could not go any faster to get away from them. He wrote a couple of tickets to the guys.

Bike NASHBAR or Performance bikes have racks for home/apartment use. Non destructive if you are a renter. If you own and don't care about holes......large screw in hooks with rubber/coating work.

Pro's Closet is the bomb. Nick who started/owns it is a friend. They just put on a vintage mountain bike ride last weekend. Great turnout, and some really cool vintage steel. I rode my Slingshot

Nick on his Yeti

Juli Furtado WC Yeti and a early Cannondale behind with 24 inch rear wheel!

Another friend has a collection of sort found here.

Frame is in-transit to me now. Very, very early 1977 Tom Kellogg frame. I can find almost no other pics on the net of these pre-Spectrum frames. More pics later in the week when it arrives.

For those unfamiliar with TK, a brief early history:

1976 - begins 5-year apprenticeship with renowned frame-builder Bill Boston. A few months into it, he's fired for doing crappy work. Unphased, he moves to Allentown in Oct 1976 and starts building frames on his own.

1977-80 - his frames win 2 Professional World Championships, 2 amateur Silver Medals, and 20 National Championships
