People that signal to change lanes in slow traffic and then keep pace with the car beside them.
Or people that keep pace with busses.

Seahawk 10-12-2023 05:24 AM

Truck and SUV TV commercials.

"I know, let's haul buns on a one lane gravel road on a mountain 'cause my Dodge Ram is life..."

People who have no concept of how to enter a highway. Learn to merge, darn it!

The giant grills on the Toyota and Lexus products, specifically 4Runner or Lexus GX, is holding me back from buying a new one. We have had great luck and great experience with our 2008 4Runner since new but it's getting a little long of tooth and time for someone else to be the caretaker. I think the designs of the fronts of these trucks is hideous and I just can't bring myself to get into one of these giant vacuum cleaners.

And now they regularly show the driver gleefully taking their hands off the wheel at speed.

Extreme volume variations when transitioning from commercial then back to the program or from program out to commercial. I fall asleep with tv using sleep timer and this is getting out of hand. Anytime of day it is unacceptable…I’ve switched cable providers over this and it never goes away. Fox is the worst culprit. Been going on for at least 5 years and it’s made me a mental case :-)

I have a few pet peeves about proper English…

Just one of the reasons I'll never buy a newer truck. I love everything about my '02 Silverado's conservative appearance.

Now that's a beautiful truck right there! :)

TV Networks who use "Breaking News" to preface every single news segment they do 24-7......most of the time regarding events that happened DAYS and WEEKS ago!

Go to the bank today to cash some checks.

Been doing this for years.

Endorse the back and I always write my account number on one of the checks.

They all know me.

In fact, I always toss a handful of Atomic Fireballs in with the checks - they get a kick out of that and I know they never get anything like that from other bank customers. I never get asked for my ID - because they all know me.

Today - they say they need to send me a text. OK - I get out my phone. No text. They ask for my number - which I give them over the speaker phone (so everyone else can hear it). I'm in the drive-in. Then I get a message I do not understand at all. I thought I would get a code. But what they want is my debit card PIN. I tell them I don't use my debit card (which I don't) and don't remember the PIN. They tell me OK we will have to bypass it.

I get my cash plus a pile of red lollipops and am on my way.

The slogan of the bank?

In any forum, when people quote entire large posts, often picture laden. The response may only be a few words.

Why can’t people be concise in their reference?

Yes and there are a few here who routinely do that.

While others know how to snip properly.

It's a form of forum etiquette, actually.....and the way I was trained.

Thanks, Paul!

oldE 10-18-2023 05:04 AM

Know how to "snip properly "?
What are we, Rabbis? :D

I know there are some I'd like to snip further back!

In the same vein, someone who needlessly “reply’s all” to an email. To wit: the guy sends out the email to 40 guys, “who wants to play Tuesday?” I don’t care if you’re playing or not…don’t clog up my email with your response, please. Pretty petty, huh? Life is tough.

I'm the opposite and wonder why they don't reply to all. Now the person has to reply to all 40 guys individually with "what time?'

People who get large carts and walk 0.001 mph down the center of the aisle at costco. It's not like they pull to the side to check something out. No, they have to s-l-o-w-l-y walk down the center of the aisle, apparently experiencing sensory overload at the sight of it all, having a Mad Mag/Don Martin-like spazz-out. Look, just get in, get yer stuff and get out!

^I hate slow people at the store^

That is why I have the business membership at the warehouse club. I get an hour before the general population goes in

Baz 10-20-2023 03:04 PM

How about the opposing traffic clowns who come across the dividing line into your lane when going around a cyclist, instead of waiting for traffic to clear like most sane people......freaking nitwits.....

gregpark 10-20-2023 03:45 PM

Or the soccer moms in their SUVs who think they have to swing wide a foot into your lane to make their turn... Hey! You're not driving a semi trailer!

Baz 10-22-2023 10:40 AM

Motorcycle battery fasteners.......trying to get them on. No way to get a grip on the nut. Some bolts are long enough to get a start if you pry upwards under the nut lightly while turning the bolt.

I like the phillips head bolts as it's easier to use a screwdriver while starting them.

Then how many times do they shoot out and fall into the freaking abyss.....never to be seen again?

Manufacturers should have an attached nut that you just screw the bolt into - similar to how side posts work on cars and trucks.

Then there's the situation where + and - are on the wrong sides. Even though when you buy the battery - they never tell you.

I know....it's on me to perform proper due diligence.

Back to the "Every Man For Himself" concept.....
=========

Edit:

I should have said "Every Man (PLUS YT) For Himself". :D

Piece of tubing under the nut........not a bad approach to the above issue.....

Me.
I take my car in for service w/dog hair and trash.
Only after that do I wash wax and vacuum to make it nice again.

My pet peeve is cranky old people. Then I stop and wonder. Does complaining about them make me a cranky old person? ;)

Or... it's like they learned to drive in a covered wagon pulled by a team of horses. And it's not just soccer moms.

Sunday night dinner rush hour at a place in Ypsi. An upper mid-range joint. Not cheap and usually very busy. This guy was mowing the lawn and spraying clippings on our shoes. Couldn't hear a conversation. After the second time he dragged the clattery mower between the tables, I made mention to glazed eye management. Oh. Yeah.

Baz 11-27-2023 06:25 PM

Having to communicate to someone who is behind a thick pane of glass.......and there is a little space at the bottom to hand papers back and forth.

At the tag office today.

Other people talking loudly - because they are also trying to talk "over" a freaking pane of glass.

So that makes it even HARDER to hear the other person.

I have decent hearing...but this BS is maddening...because there's really no need.

The old building......it wasn't like that......

Progress.....

Sometimes it balances out.

Earlier in the day at Winn Dixie I was heading inside and noticed a lady in the parking lot finishing her loading - and she had the smaller sized cart, which I was going to use.

I made eye contact with her as she was turning towards the store to return the cart. Raised my hand and she shot the cart towards me and it came right to me straight as a freaking arrow!

Mankind finds a way sometimes......and she certainly held up her end of things.....I was impressed!

Pedestrians who leave the store with a cart and cross the approach roadway at an angle to reach their car...four lanes over.

Just go straight across and then turn your cart. Cars have to wait while they slowly take 30 yards to cross in front of them.
They are oblivious of the cars patiently waiting for them to clear the roadway.

I had this happen this afternoon at Menards and I could hear one of the other drivers shouting out his window.....and it wasn't "have a good day" :D

Seat belt retracter springs. They must be made of bailing wire. A couple years and they just flop around.

(tb for the record your handywork is supreme)
