These people are frequently impaired.

In a similar vein - people who ask you a question about a certain subject, then proceed to tell you your answer is incorrect. That one really burns my butt.

Networks invading the sanctity of my home by unilaterally varying the volume level of my tv with the use of sound compression in advertisements and program previews. I solved it with a GEFEN digital filter. (this practice should be outlawed)

People who believe the world will end in their lifetime. (sooo pretentious)

Getting handed the check at restaurants before you ask for it. (Hey buddy, maybe I want a second espresso, another beer, or a second bottle of wine to chat with my friends here.)

People storming to get into an elevator before those who are going out of it do. (unacceptable in persons older than five)

People who refer to the NFL Super Bowl winner as "World Champion" (Question: How many foreign teams from the rest of the world did they defeat for such title?)

Having to pay extra for bottled water and internet at hotels. (If you must, incorporate it to the room's rate and don't tell me about it)

Opening a harder-than-steel, shape-molded, clear-plastic packaging five times the size of the item it contains and getting cut with it's deadly shards. (you could make a prison shank of it)

Christmas decorations in early November. (Do I really need to explain this one?)

Not being able to buy/drink a beer inside the Disney's Magic Kingdom resort. (No respect for fathers chasing children in 100+ degree weather)

Serrated knives at meat restaurants. (What, am I the only one that thinks a fine meat should be treated only to a finely sharpened blade? Just in case, I always bring my own so that makes me a meat-knife snob)

Leather pants on a man. (Sorry sir, is your name Lenny Kravitz? No? Then be so kind as to take those off and never wear them again.)

Tupees (So lame. I can spot one of those from 50 ft, what makes a man think he can get away with it? Kinda like stuffing your pants with a sock to show what you're not)

And many other.

Searching for a battery tender one minute - the next minute I'm on my email page...and there's a picture of it, right there, in front of me, in case I forgot.

When toilet paper = sand paper (doesn't matter what grit), and any wanker that thinks it's a good idea to load it into a dispenser. Anything less than 4 ply tissue should be banned.

Washington (CNN) -- Say goodbye to one of the greatest irritants of modern life: television commercials that are MUCH LOUDER THAN THE SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING!

Beginning Thursday, the Federal Communications Commission is barring broadcasters and pay TV providers from airing excessively loud commercials, saying ads must maintain the "same average volume" as the programs they accompany.

The move -- which undoubtedly will make many TV viewers happier, and save countless marriages -- addresses a problem that, regulators say, is almost as old as television itself.

Loud commercials have been a leading source of complaints to the FCC since its consumer call center began reporting top complaints in 2002.

4 paragraph dealer ads that blather on and on about the dealership while avoiding making any representation of the vehicle at issue. Anyone looking at that ad should know those a-holes are either lying by omission or too farking lazy to be trusted.

I lived my peeve today: I really have issues with most peoples lack of situational awareness, think the hordes that collect around arrival and departure status boards at an airport, oblivious to the fact that they are stopping traffic.

So, I am at Lowes today with a $100 dollar gift certificate from my MIL burning a hole in my pocket. I don't need anything, but I know I want something.

I pass a young man pushing a cart of plywood and he has his son on the cart. Very cute kid, nice guy...I tell him as I pass that watching the two of them brings back a lot of memories. He laughs and asks if I want to drive. Classic, good stuff.

About twenty feet later, a bauble catches my eye and I stop for about five seconds...just enough time for me to block his way. He has a heavy cart so stopping is an event for him.

"Sir, sir, sir..."

I hear him and get the f out of the way, pissed that I was the pouge. I profusely apologize as he and his son go by.

Don't become the peeve.

Back to driving courtesy and skill:

Drivers who realize they need to turn around and either:

1) Do a u-turn right in the middle of the road where they block traffic as well as go over sidewalks, sprinkler heads, run over shrubs, etc.

2) Pull into a side road and then try to back out into a busy road - instead of finding a driveway on that side road to do the turn around in

Boils down to being lazy, selfish, unskilled, and ignorant.

That should be stamped onto their drivers licenses if I had anything to do about it.

Paul, I believe you're being too hard on yourself. At least you have situational awareness. That is the one thing that is at the top of my list. What is the most precious thing we have...It's time to me. If I'm blocking you or holding you up, I'm stealing your time. I think most people just don't give a rats a$$. The world revolves around them. I used to think it was a socioeconomic thing...Poor or poorer people, less education, etc. But it's not. Go to The Publics Food Store or Whole Foods, lots of top end expensive cars in the parking lot. It's just a whole different pecking order. When I was about to leave the house as a kid, my folks would say, "Watch out for the other guy." Good advice at so many levels. Happy New Year to you! Fritz

Just encountered one yesterday. Sleet coming down in buckets and this guy takes one step inside the restaurant and stops to look around while 5 people stand out in the sleet waiting for him to get the hell out of the way.

6 am...7 days a week...you shovel snow! Even when there is no more than a trace. :mad:

Young female drivers talking on the phone and doing 10 under the limit.

Call me what you want but I'm just calling it they way I see it.

Paul...I'd say ALL female drivers on their cell phones. I can tell by how a car is being driven whether the driver is on their phone or not. 90% are females.

Law enforcement can't do a thing about it.

Seat belts - yes. Cell phone users - no.

At least here in Florida.

I encountered another one today. Loud Christmas music 5 days after Christmas at a business. And the bad 60s children level junk. I hated Frosty & Rudolph songs as a kid, it is real annoying now.

1. People who drive about with their fog lights on all the time.
2. People who camp out in the left lane.
3. Inconsiderate people (also see 1 & 2 above).

I don't do pet peeves any more, because I don't have anger management issues.

Sporting events where the crowd noise amplitude is higher than the announcer's.
The NFL is a frequent violator of this...especially MNF. One would think that the sound engineer is on leave. Direct TV has close caption & we use it when the crowd noise is high.

A team scores & the control room seems to think that we want to watch the crown scream & cry - NOT SO! I want to watch the rejoicing of the players - that's where the fun is. Ever since day 1 of TV broadcasting, the camera goes to the crowd. WTF!

I'll complain (mostly out loud) about what I see in traffic - but then, a short distance later, I'm doing the same thing. It's a b!tch, I tell ya! I can't seem to escape it. Calling self-forgiveness.

Just encountered one of my pet peeves: People who drive sports car below speed limit slow.

People who walk two or three abreast on a sidewalk and do not follow the basic rule of "pass on the right" as to allow oncoming walkers/runners by without stepping off onto the roadway.

I was behind a new Corvette z06 as we merged onto a interstate from another interstate. The sky was blue, the sun us out, 60 degree day and the vette driver took the curve slower than I would do it if there was ice or snow on the ground and is was in my 1986 El Camino. He should be ticketed for impending traffic and barred from ever driving a Corvette or sporty car. Put him in a smart car.

I was on the highway the other day, i was doing 75. A Smart car blew by me like I was going backwards


People who dont have their lights on in low light conditions or foul weather.

Ha! On a highway east of here a few years back, I observed a couple of C3s sitting at the top of the on ramp. One guy was just getting into his car. I was watching them and my odometer and, as I passed a point 1 mile past the overpass, he started to join the highway. By the time I was another mile down the road, he had overtaken me! Since I was traveling at 60 mph, that, in my book is averaging 120 mph from a standing start.

On the pet peeve side: I followed an old lady into town the other day. She stopped her car and parked on top of the X which was painted at the entrance to the main intersection in town, got out and walked across the intersection into the bank. I know Bridgetown isn't very big, but ....

Pet peeve number 2. A couple of years ago, I deposited two cheques in an envelope in a banking machine for my bank. A week later I get a letter from my bank saying there was only one cheque in the envelope. I got the my MIL, who had written the cheque to determine if it had been cashed, (it hadn't) and she issued me a new cheque, which I deposited.
Two weeks ago, I deposited two cheques at another branch of my bank. Yesterday, I got another letter from my bank saying they only had one cheque. The second cheque was (you guessed it) from my MIL.
I'm not sure I want to be dealing with a bank whose employees can not count to two! :mad:
