I thought I was gonna see some cool funky stuff like $ 150K line of credit defaults and things like that.

You can see a 15 point swing in a day- seen it firsthand. It means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Don't worry about it, call your doctor and restrain from sex if you see of 75 point drop or greater.

I pay off my credit card every month, have a car loan that doesn't come close to stressing my finances, and a house payment that is less than half what I qualify for.

My credit score is still around 830.

My credit score tanked going thru a divorce. Her lawyer blamed me for poor credit - I will tell you I felt ashamed. I paid my bills on time - I'm honorable it was a horrible time. I;m trying to rent an apartment and I acknowledge that my credit was less than stellar. My score was 695, not bad but not great. I got the apartment and rebuilt everything. My score today is 780 - most of my problems were my ex's.

It was a real ugly period in my life but it is repairable. You need to know that.

Most cash back programs have an annual limit. It's still free money for the card holder if you don't carry a balance. I had a customer call me on Mon. and ask me if he could put $130k on his card and then pay it off a few days later just to get the points/rewards/cash back. It's free money for them. This guy puts a good $200-300k a month on his card and never carries a balance. The CC companies just give a slice of their merchant fees back to the card holder to incentivize them to use the card more to generate more merchant fees. Perfect system for the CC companies.

I've never known or asked what my credit score is. I deal with a Credit Union. Have since I was 14. I'm pretty sure they might say no if I came to them and wanted to buy a new turbo S.

I checked mine after I bought a car and the salesperson came back saying it was the highest she'd ever seen. I'm one of those pay everything off each month people, so I never really worried what it was.

A fun thing my wife and I did a year or so before we got married was to sit down and pull our credit reports an scores. Seemed like a good wat make sure we were on the same page in regards to our use of credit and loans.
