my old boss had a shar pei named sadie who drew blood from caeser milan. he eventually kicked her out of his school, mostly because the owner was a flake who wasn't following through on training.

sadie like me though. she'd sleep under my desk while i worked. after i stuffed her full of chinese food every lunch.

BTW - in #1, it is not true that dogs act only on instinct (think about it: if true, they could never learn anything)

also, dogs have their own language, but are more highly attuned to humans (human psychology) than other animals - the latter is based on some recent research and compared dogs with wolves (not empathetic with humans)

His mantra: no touch, no talk, no eye contact. It works.

He is a very bright guy.

We watched every episode of the Dog Whisperer before we got our Daisy (Golden Retriever) almost 5 years ago. Our daughter trained Daisy using the techniques she learned on the show and our Daisy behaves perfectly. Of course, Goldens are notably easy to train, but Becky did everything she saw Cesar Millan do and it worked. She has also worked with other's dogs and has gotten them to behave, too. We call our daughter "the dog whisperer".

My wife watches it on a regular basis. I didn't at first but when I did I learned a lot more than just training animals. People could learn a lot of good things by paying attention to Cesar's approach. He not only gets the message to the animals, he has a deep understand of human behavior and a lot of patience. An uncommon quality today.

i dont think that is the correct way he does it. that trick doesnt work with my aussie. it turns into a nipping game with him. have you ever seen puppies play? when one of their brothers nips them in the side they turn around and nip them back.

i think you are refering to the little tap/kick he uses while walking to snap them out of what they are focusing on. done with your feet not your hand

When a puppy is biting me, I bite him on the snout. You don't have to bite hard, (you should never hurt an animal under any circumstances), but you can show them some clamping force and believe me it works. Instantly.
