To the best of my knowledge, we are not filming any features in CA for the next 18 months that are out on the production schedule.

GSXRKEN

I pay 1/2 that with all the BS fees and "special assessments" on a house appraised at $750K.
Many of us notice it but this place continues to make it difficult for business to make it here. Once these companies are gone (up and down the west cost) they are not coming back. The movie industry is really the last "strong industry" that's still around, and it seem like that's going away slowly also. We do lot of work on these people's homes who has ties with the industry. i hope it will all work out for us here in paradise.

ROT911 I live in Santa Clarita and my wife works in Ventura so we are doing well, very well. Most of the areas that you show are low educated areas. South Gate, Maywood, South Central LA, Downey? have you actually been to them? Most people in those areas don't have a HS degree. Yet they suck the life out of the State with unemployment and welfare. I'm going trailer camping at Carpinteria State Beach tomorrow. I'll post some pics of how sucky it is.

"From the mid-1980s to 2005, California’s population grew by 10 million, while Medicaid recipients soared by seven million; tax filers paying income taxes rose by just 150,000." Wall Street Journal, 4/2012

I love CA. I have lived here for 49 years. I just wonder how much longer that will be.

Just curious.
Does the interstate dislike/hatred in the u s
follow the same pattern as the red/blue, repub/demo dislike/hatred ?
In Canuckistan, the absolute binary nature is missing.
so far.

I cannot say in any way that I have a hatred of CA, I find it to be a beautiful state with amazing weather. I've spent about two weeks in SoCal and may take the family back there on vacation this summer. Hell, I even like some of you poppy heads that live there. But I do get annoyed at those so caught up in their own little world of sunshine and surf who simply assume that the rest of the USA, particularly the Midwest, consists solely of mouth breathing ignorant racist rednecks. For a state that is so open to other cultures, some of you can be amazingly ignorant of states in your own nation. And the question about farms was not an exaggeration, I've actually been asked that question on several occasions by people from CA.

I thought I could never live outside of the CA and our weather. But so far I have a daughters going to college in Michigan and Maryland and they seem to be handling it just fine. I suppose you can get used to anything. Plus they have seasons.

And historically, not only did CA have weather, they had the good jobs.

Even though I thought it was fake, I still did a quick search to see if I could find an “Orange Church of God”. I also searched for the phrase “church sign generator”, and found a website that allows you to create fake church signs… or at least it did.

The website, “www.says-it.com”, is no longer functional, so I checked out the Wayback Machine to see if it had captured the old site.

You can view the archived page here, if you’re curious.
Note this “note” from the website:

Note: these church signs aren’t real, they don’t exist in the real world. You’ll be making a fake photo of a church sign.

http://www.cityoforange.org/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?blobid=10003

Orange Demographics: 61% of all residents have at least some college education.
36% have a college degree.

47% white, 38% hispanic.
60% of housholds own their own home.
Median income in Orange is around $77k/yr, what's the national average again? I believe it's $50,054
doesn't sound like an impoverished area at all.

BTW, I've got two degrees. Just in case you were wondering.

Less than 1/4 of those given offers by Nissan to relocate too the offers. For some folks Tennessee is really nice. For most of the world California is awesome --- but you gotta pay to stay.

Quote:
My friend also moved from Cal to Tenn a few years ago.

He was part of this:

Nissan Moving North American Headquarters

"The nearly 1,300 people employed at Nissan's Los Angeles-area headquarters work in management, marketing, advertising, sales and distribution and dealership development for North America. Ghosn said he expects about half the California employees will move to Tennessee, but he's not sure of the exact number.

Ghosn cited lower real estate and business taxes as major reasons for the move.

"The costs of doing business in Southern California are much higher than the costs of doing business in Tennessee," he said."

Not trying to get away from Mexicans, I married one. Probably have to take her with me.
We just need to get out of this place and let the bleeding heart idiots finish it off.
After they're done and have moved on like locusts, we can come back and rebuild it.

Methinks that the reference to "Sears" would be Sear's Point...although there is also Sears Fine Food in the City which serves wonderful comfort food and is a local institution for many years...but I digress...

CA has its problems and there will always be exoduses and greener grass that is more favorable for many people, however for me the pluses outweigh the negatives...I'm sure that will change one day in the future as this is a large planet and there are many special places to live.

That said, the state (and the West) are made for driving and well, that is why we care-take these fine vehicles, isn't it?!?!?!?
