I knew someone that died as a result of a bambi collision. Over car through windshield.

I'll swerve for small animals, but not enough to go offroad.

I agree. It's a dangerous curve apparently. I wouldn't want to put up a wall/berm that allows people to die. That's just me. That doesn't look like it would be hard to fix.

I like the gravel trap idea. Dig it deep and charge them $300 for the tow rope.

Can you shoot a video of the approach to that curve?

several parallel positioned rail road ties would make for a great rumble strip.

Or heck sink the railroad tie vertical sunk a good 3-4 foot deep in the hole would work too.

You might talk to your local sheriff about getting a reflective "turn ahead" arrow sign installed

We've got a BIG reflective arrow sign. Speed limit on the road is 45, slows to 25 for about 100 yards before and after the curve.

I would be putting a bunch of red reflectors on your top post rails,
I would guess that most of this happens at night

It is for me. Unless it is big enough it is coming through the windshield, I am not swerving.

Quicksand about 3 feet deep, just enough to FUBAR the car, but not injure or kill anyone.

Did you point an M1 at him and growl, "Get off my lawn!" ?

No, but I did have to pause and think "1911 or FAL ?" Opted for the 1911... easier to stick in my belt messican style when not needed.

Was the rabbits name "Harvey"?

A couple more large logs along the edge would be my plan.

Instead of a raised berm, I'm seeing a trough... but not something ugly. Lemme see if I can describe it, although I would rather draw it.

(If the county would let you do it), imagine about 3 feet past the fence, dig straight down about 2.5 to 3 feet, then gently slope the bottom of this "cut" toward the road. Also gently slope it along the fence so it rises to the level of the ground about 30-40 feet in each direction from the center of your second photo. If you know the shape of the Vietnam Memorial, that is the general idea.

Then plant some kind of ivy or other ground cover on it to make it hold the earth and look better.

That way, any vehicle coming in would just ride down to the bottom and hit the flat face of the back "wall" and be stopped... and not launched.

You're not responsible for someone's level of injuries if they came in at 80 MPH one night. I'm sure you'd rather have them hit out there rather than drive into you asleep in your home.

One thing that might be a problem is drainage. Is the soil fairly porous? You wouldn't want it to create a small "lake" in warmer months, and be a mosquito haven.

Install pea gravel and a stacked tire fence like at the track.
