i was at the local gun show three sundays ago.... there were plenty of AR's to be had. i was there to sell mine, i didn't get a single offer. if one was willing to build one from parts, it would have been easy to put one together for about $1200, maybe less.

Haven't been to a gun show for a couple of months but Surplus Ammo had almost nothing. They are usually very well stocked.

Come to the gun stores in NYC the shelves are full as our Gov made it but impossible to even own a gun now.

What product wouldn't be in a panic buying mode if the gov't. were trying to ban it? Even Twinkies weren't immune from this. I always had a few AR builds in mind, but dragged my feet on them for years. I ran out an grabbed a few receivers less than a week after Newtown. Now they're unobtanium or crazy expensive. It's a no-lose deal for me. I can flip them for double money now or continue with my builds.

Not a gun store, but a pawn shop. The places was loaded (NPI) with guns. Dunno if the place specializes in guns......but loaded. Rifles & hand guns, no black guns.

The prices seemed high but I'm not up on the market. I suspect that when the fad wears off, lots of the recently purchased guns will end up in a place like this and the underground ammo market will surge.

Don't know about AZ but AR lowers are showing up in places like Turners again. Heard they had several hundred forged lowers for $159 this week. The market is still pretty picked over on uppers and BCGs though.

If CA goes through with their proposed legislation the prices locally will skyrocket again.

The market on Colt single actions has been unaffected.

Single shot rifles like the Ruger #1, Winchester/Browning Highwall, C. Sharps or Shilo Sharps '74, etc. are similarly unaffected.

That's exactly twice what I paid for my Spike's lower about three yrs. ago. I paid $125 per for two S&W M&P lowers in December. I could easily flip them for 2-3x as much now. The issue, now, is affording the upper and LPKs and then ammo for breaking/sighting in.

Agreed. And thank God for that. It's the only thing that's saved them from the hysterical, mindless masses who know nothing other than their black rifles and plastic pistols.

Believe me, though, no one who is good with these "old relics" is "unarmed" by any stretch of the imagination.

i was at the gun store this morning. they still don't have the powder i want, so i bought something that would work for .223 and called it a day. still no .224 projectiles.

.223 cheap stuff is now $15/20 (PMC) and the white box military 5.56 is $0.85/round (200 rounds for $170). AR lowers were priced at $325/each.

they did have a used semi-auto remington 12ga for a song (an 11-47, or something like that) with an adjustable choke. i'd never seen one like it.

carry on.

mosin nagants are awesome. makes people at the outdoor range turn around, thinking you are firing a 50bmg. makes people at indoor ranges stop shooting, drop their guns, and come over to your lane to watch the 3ft fireball and the massive amount of air being moved

Agreed. They're dirt cheap and plenty fun (and powerful, and accurate). A good 91/30 is a blast to shoot. The hand equivalent is the Cz52 with 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo. THAT one gets attention, so I've been told.

And remember, at one time, a breech loading single shot was an "assault" rifle!
