How is a diesel motor $60K more expensive than a gasoline-powered one?

CurtEgerer 03-20-2019 11:26 AM

Love the cutting board!

Spacecraft makes some nice 5th wheel trailers. Might be tough to get one into the local State Park though

its the engine transmission, the emissions control, at least in CA, an air ride suspension, and usually now, full sized kitchen refrigerator, maybe a 2nd bathroom,

DWBOX2000 03-20-2019 01:23 PM

Your my new idol. Well done.

Hugh R 03-20-2019 04:43 PM

Thanks guys, yeah, he is a really nice guy, dishwasher for a wood cutting board, I think not.

We decided to buy new, (yeah I know), BUT a new warranty and the fact that I got a seven year extended bumper-to-bumper warranty for another $2,9xx is an attraction.

New electronics, servos, etc. I drop it of at the Dealer and he fixes it in a day or two. I'm not going to be figuring out all the SAT electronics and such.

I live in an HOA in a townhouse, I can't do any work on any vehicle here.

Well worth it if your inclined to drop the coin. The ride and noise alone did it for me. Rides like a caddy going down the road. Although the newer gas units have come along way in closing the gap on that front. Nice looking rig Hugh.

We drove to Phoenix today and pulled into a Rest Area near Wickenberg. A guy pulls in with a big motorhome towing a Jeep.

He saw my fly fishing sticker on the back window of my truck and we started talking fishing. Turns out he's from Maryland and does "deep trough" fishing or something like that. 8 lb weights fishing at 1,000 feet for Grouper. He used to sell boats on the East Coast and now travels around.

He was on his way to Gilbert to trade in his 2018 model for a new 2019. I told him about my $18k R-Pod travel trailer and how much we enjoyed it. He said "That's all you need" and said if we were in the market his rig was for sale and gave us a tour.

Fck me runnin', this is it here on the website, a bit out of my reach! Beautiful though!

The cutting board is cool.

agree with all of the above

Sweet rig, you could put bath tub with jets like a hot tub in there somewhere I bet, looks big enough, 57 feet is just crazy

I had one of those parked next to me for a month or so this year. They base at about $2 million.

^^^That paint job is a deal breaker for me. UGLY!

911boost 03-23-2019 09:26 PM

I bet that’s a custom paint job too

Hugh R 04-22-2019 01:49 PM

Just came back from Palm Springs. Stopped at Camping World to have a washer/dryer installed and some old guy backs into my rear bumper with his pickup. He has insurance. Camping World thinks $750 for a factory painted replacement bumper. It’s not even a month old. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1555969667.jpg

Tobra 04-22-2019 02:20 PM

$750 plus paint or $750 all in? That is not bad if all you have to do is install.

You might be correct. It's sure tacky.

Hugh R 04-22-2019 06:31 PM

Insurance is going to cover it. It’s 3 weeks old

I can’t catch a ******* break. As I said, earlier, took it to Camping World to install a washer/dryer combo. I Paid Winnebago when I ordered it to finish faucet hot/ cold water, drain and electrical and dryer vent for a drop in washer/dryer unit. They did about 1/2 so I’m going to hassle with them and the dealer over about $500 of changes.....

Hugh R 06-10-2019 04:08 PM

Got a new rear bumper courtesy of the insurance Co. of the idiot who back into my one month old RV.

Hugh R 06-10-2019 04:32 PM

Finally after a few months, taking it to Carpenteria State Beach this weekend to test out the washer/dryer thing.

We bought a new 2019 last week to replace our 2006. It was a painful check to write. We have it here at my brothers house for a ppi.

Washer/Dryer Combo works like a champ, you can barely hear it running. Small loads however, like two queen sized sheets and two pillow cases. Takes a looong time, 90 wash and dry cycle, but that's OK, uses about six gallons of water/load or about 10% of my grey water tank capacity.

Enjoy. I took the train home last weekend, and this was the view from Carpinteria.

Looks like a nice rig, Scott.
How did the PPI work out?

Hugh R 06-25-2019 05:46 PM

Pushed out the sliders and one wouldn't close properly took it to the dealer and he figured out, in an hour, it was a stray piece of rubber, in the gears, on the road Thursday for a month..

Very well, they found a broken blind and the door latch needed to be replaced. The dealer did all of that gratis of course and we took it to Lake McConaughy last weekend.

I bet I've driven back and forth between Wickenburg and Surprise a hundred times.
I wish they'd just pick a speed limit and stick to it, it seems like it changes every three miles.

Hugh R 06-26-2019 08:37 AM

Paul,

Up the Coast to Oregon, touch on Washington, and back to SoCal. Bring my spoons that you saw when we visited you last Summer. Our first extended trip with the new Rig.

tevake 06-26-2019 09:44 AM

Great area to cruise Hugh. From S F north along the coast is one of my favoites. The road makes you work for it in places, but is so rewarding.
Those long empty beaches in Oregon just seem to be calling for one of those sailing land buggies.

Glad you got the new rig teething issues sorted.

A couple of highlights up that way for me.

4th of July parade in Ferndale ( the Victorian Village). Can camp at their fairgrounds at the edge of town.

Camping deep in redwoods along the Gualala River in a small tucked in park a bit inland from the road, sweet spot.

Plus Wind sculpted sand dunes all along the coast up that way.

Looking forward to you trip pics.
And stories.

Cheers Richard

Seahawk 06-26-2019 09:48 AM

Great stuff, Hugh.

If you can squeeze an extra day in there are some really spectacular Eastern Cascade drives.

Have fun and post pics!

tevake 06-26-2019 10:03 AM

Hugh, have you booked all of your stopping places already or are you winging it some along the way? Places do get booked up for the summer months

Cheers Richard

Hugh R 06-26-2019 11:27 AM

Booked everything already,

About 1,400 miles so far up the CA and OR coast, no issues, other than an HDMI signal issue to one TV from the satellite dish TV system. Washer drier works great.
