that's "the stuff" for a sealant on gaskets. i use it on gaskets if there is anything less than a perfectly machined surface on both sides of the gasket. dries anaerobically in the joint. when you disassemble the parts, the gasket peels away from the parts to be discarded, leaving minimal mess.

Its good stuff on well mated surfaces, I would not use it on stamped flanges
