I've stood by these clowns too often. I like the cars and most of the tracks, but these little boys that drive them need to go home. And the France family? Well, there's your real problem. They must have too many WWC and NHL guys on the payroll. I'm surprised they didn't pick up Randy Bernard after he was shoved out of Indy Car.

After all, he was the man behind professional rodeo.

What would I do to fix NASCAR? Probably raise the minimum age to drive in the Cup series to 30. Or at least make them potty trained and out of their diapers.

And fire the Frances.

I gave up on Nascar years ago. If you took all the paint and stickers away you would have no idea what car was what.
Un homogenize the cars, un restrict them, and let the manufactures build the cars again and you might be able to revive it.
Also ban a driver that has to wreck someone because they can't pass them.

That race today was the best I have sever seen from that track. I do think they should allow the teams any combination of the many Goodyear tires. Instead of the spec tire for that track. They all look the same but are diff depending o n track.


Kyle Busch is one of the best out there. BUT, Keselowski is better. He's a thinker. Less emotional. Kyle Laraon (guy that went into the fence at Daytona) will eclipse them both. Logano is a douche....I have never liked him. He's been trying to be "tough" for a while now.

Didn't watch, but did see a clip of the ending.

Kyle put his teammate Denny in a bad spot, and it got ugly.

As for the after race stuff - try going to a short kart track, dirt preferred. Some of 'em don't even wait for the race to end to come out fightin'. No TV, no cameras, just the heat of racing does that to some people.

NASCAR would be a lot less interesting if it lost Kyle Busch, for all his bad attitude, he has incredible driving. It'd be like losing Kimi from F1. I'm glad he hasn't repeated what he did in the truck race at Texas(irc). If he does something like that again, despite the fact I like him on the track - he deserves a perma-ban.

I kept surfing between NASCAR and F-1 since both were on at the same time. I guess to each his own...but I found NASCAR to be better entertainment.

How did Kyle put Denny in a bad spot? He capitalized on the Denny/Joey drama.

I thought it was the best Nascar race so far this season. I was flipping between F1 and Nascar and my wife complained every time the F1 was on.

Hey... Lucky you ! At least you got to watch some racing. My wife complains when ANYTHING other than Hallmark channel, Family channel , Lifetime channel or EWTN is on . :mad: At least she has stopped watching Nancy Grace. So I have that going for me. Which is nice. :rolleyes:

FYI, the F1 race had just as much, or maybe more drama than the NASCAR one. SmileWavy

Dammmm Milt, do you want me to have my wife send some of her xanax up there??!! I haven't heard you get so wound up in a while. Having started racing on 1/4 mile east coast dirt tracks in the early 60s and most everything else since then, I just sit back and let the race(s) go the way they go. About the only thing that used to bother me was the fact that NASCAR never allowed racing on the ovals when it rained, but it is their show.

Keselowski. I can't stand to look at him, much lass listen. There couldn't be a worse spokesman for the dubious 'sport' they put on. I did get a kick out of Travis Pastrana talking to Dave Despain and telling him that in he went to school in Saturday's race when he was behind Busch for a short bit. He said that Busch was using the air between the wall and the car to turn the car, grazing the wall now and then.

Pastrana, who is no slouch in the talent department, said that the best drivers he has ever seen are in NASCAR. He seems pretty well grounded to me and he IS 30 years old. So, he qualifies in my book.

Is that Kurt Busch? Interesting. Would explain why he sideswipes it so often. I didnt realize that was what he was doing.

The interview with T Stewart post race was a gooder. He had so many beeps I thought he was talking in morris code. Watch for him to dispose of Logano before too many races go by.

Considering Tony tore some one elses car up the night before when he saw some one had a run on him in a dirt race, and Tony slammed down to the inside of the track on top, flipping and tearing up the car he came down, Tony doesn't have much of a leg to stand on here. He'll *hopefully* realize that. Tony caused the "big one" at 'dega last fall when he tried to cut off the #55, but didn't get down fast enough as the #55 had his nose in.

+1. My sentiments exactly. NASCAR was originally about racing cars based on production sedans. Not just a photo of one.

Watching someone driving in circle in same lame cars is boring as hell. At Daytona they should at least have to work in the international horseshoe. Might have to change camber etc..doing so might weed out the pack. Also, rain delays? can you say LeMans?

I stayed up to watch live F1. They delayed, delayed, then put it off until the next day...

There is no circle shaped NASCAR track. Leave the Daytona 500 on the tri-oval, but I agree, it'd be nice to run the Grand-Am track setup for the second Daytona race. I'm not a fan of 'plate races.

I live in Charlotte, and have gotten to race with a bunch of those guys in karts, I'm not sure what you mean by weed out the pack, but the top cup drivers are still very fast when put on a track with left and right turns. I'd say the ovals are harder, but some ovals are easier than others. A qualifying lap at Daytona or 'Dega is mostly about the car and wind, but the racing isn't easy.

As for the cars not having anything to do with road cars, that bus left with increased federal regulations. Lots of regs are counter-safety to a race car. Road cars with airbags try to account for the lack of harness and restraints that the average joe won't take the time to put on each time they drive. This results in a different crash structure, and different chassis design. With the current chasm between rules that are good for safe fast racing, and rules that the Fed gives auto makers, a true 200MPH stock car class just isn't going to happen...

I'd also like to see one of the 'Dega races put up curbing and walls across their back stretch turning it into a section with right/left turns. The 'plate racing doesn't do it for me.

Rick V, this year you can tell a Chevy from a Ford and a Toyota. Take the nose off and the engine out, and they are all exactly the same. Most series have cars that look the same. You guys can't tell me that with no livery on the F1 cars that you could accurately name each one. They look the same on the track.

LMP1 cars look the same, more or less. Daytona Prototypes are the same. WOO sprints are the same. Midgets are the same. Maybe the best example of a racing class is GT 1 and GT 2. Corvettes and Ferraris are certainly distinct from BMW's.

I don't think the cars are the problem.

VaSteve, I don't know if it was Kurt B. or Kyle. I think Travis was talking about Kyle in the Nationwide race. Kyle definitely used the wall to win the Cup race. While the little boys were playing tag on the last lap, Kyle came up on them a ton. I'll bet he had a full 10 MPH on them BEFORE they crashed.

His statement at the end while being interviewed was something like, "Hey, I think you two forgot about me."

Ain't that the truth. They threw the baby out with the bath.

As usual, statements in these types of threads compel me to back the stock car series and drivers. And I don't really intend to do that. Any talk about driving an oval in the rain is pure stupidity. IndyCar doesn't do it anymore than sprint cars race the dirt while it's raining. There is limited rain road racing in stock cars and it's treacherous. The tires and the 3400 lb. weight don't go together well.

AFA talent goes, I think each series has some of the best drivers ever. It takes a different skill set to do each one. We know that when a driver crosses over, they don't do well. The one exception is F1 to another open wheel road race series.

Perhaps Mansel and Montoya were the notable exceptions because they won on American ovals.

Nascar is not racing as much as it is a social event. If you don't like the personalities, then you'll not like the "racing".

OTOH, F1 is great driving that seems to be screwed up by constant fiddling with the rules and specs each year. And everyone pretty much hates each other.
