Jurassic Park 3D
Just saw this. Wow. The 3D, while seeming artificial at first, really works well after your brain stops picking it out. The dinosaur effects are still very good. My kid loved this 20 year old movie.

jyl,
While I have not seen this in 3D, in reading your post I remembered the first time I saw this movie. It was in Yokosuka, Japan and it was a little odd to be watching an American movie with Japanese subtitles... Regardless, it was a great movie then and is probably even better in 3D.

Still a fantastic move, my kids like it. We'll probably go see it in 3D. As an aside, does anyone think this is just another sign that Hollywood has ran out of ideas?

No, I think it's the new way to finance a sequel. Then again, I guess if they are making another sequel, they probably ran out of new ideas.

![]() Didn't they release yet another Spider-Man movie in 2012? Yes. The suits in Hollywood will continue churning out sequels, reboots and retold foreign films until the movie audience gets wise and asks for more original stories, which is to say, they probably won't. Sherwood |

I see maybe one movie per year. The fact that I want to take my kids to a movie that is 10 years old pretty much says it all.

If you look just beyond the brainless mega-blockbusters, you'll see that we're in another golden age of film right now. And Hollywood is indeed taking part. Audiences over the last 10 years or so have opened up to independent and foreign films like never before, and as such, Hollywood has responded with some really good movies.

Former Drama Queen...

My son asked to see this movie while going to see Oz. I bought the IMAX 3D tickets and my son loved it. His only complaint was that the previews were a little loud. For someone with down syndrome and autism, saying the previews were loud but watching the actual movie was great. It was so great that he wanted the movie on DVD. We stopped on the way home and the dvd was less then what I paid for one IMAX ticket. Well worth seeing again if you have kids that have never seen it.

The main advantage of choosing "vintage" films for kids or for general viewing is that one can make selections based on historical critical and popular consensus.
Flops at the box office don't necessarily mean a film isn't worth watching. More telling are films, esp. big budget films, that aren't worth watching. YMMV. Wiki's list. One of several online opinions: List of films considered the worst - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Some of the listed films are so bad, they border on parody. Yes, I saw a few of them, but mostly on the tube. Sherwood |
