F/U ebay and paypal

They want to hold my paypal funds for 21 days because I have not sold in a while and I am considered a risk. Want to give the buyer time to review the product? WTF? They are making $$ off of ME! What a crock. Last time they bite my hand. /rant off

A risk? Can you explain what this means coming from them?

I'm beginning to feel that eBay is the Devil. He is here.

From the link I selected;

Why aren’t my funds available as soon as my buyers pay?

Here are the most common reasons why:

You have a Below Standard seller rating on eBay
You have a limited selling history on eBay, which means that any of the following are true:
It’s been 90 days or less since your first successful sale on eBay, or
You’ve made 25 or fewer sales transactions on eBay, or
You’ve sold $250 or less on eBay
We believe there may be a high level of risk associated with your account or your transactions. This can include risk that your account will have a higher number of eBay Buyer Protection cases, PayPal disputes, PayPal claims, buyer chargebacks or other reversals.

I only have 106 transactions and have never had a problem. What BS. They want to earn interest on my $$.

That happened to me awhile back. Sold a guitar for a few $k and they held the money for 3 weeks. Missed out on a few screaming guitar deals in those 21 days, pissed me off.

Phone call to a fleabay rep will take care of it.... to a limit. Not good enough, beef some more to the rep and ask for a supervisor. They already listen in so you don't have to repeat everything. I don't get why they have to be so tight in the panties either especially when selling anything under a hundred is hardly worth the effort. Good luck.

PayPal Complaints, PayPal Customer Service & eBay Suspension Complaints

I have been avoiding Ebay and paypal like the plague. They took $200 of my hard earned. Never will deal with them again on high dollar items. I'd rather sell on Craigslist or at the swap meet.

I agree that they suck for selling stuff but where else am I going to get the audience for all of the random auto and MC parts that I need to unload? Anyone want a set of 993 headlights? Pelican is by for the biggest Porsche board in the world and no one wants those lights or anything else I have over a long period of time. Same with MC stuff, only sells on eBay and even then it's only sometimes.

EBay is great for buying stuff, for the most part.

eBay was good back in the 90s when you could still buy and sell anything on there (firearms, whatever). It's been going steadily downhill with increasingly onerous TOU and restrictions and fees. I like amazon and CL a lot more although the latter isn't for the faint of heart - just don't trust people too much and you'll be fine.

Guess I'll be the dissenter here. I like them both and use them frequently without issue for the most part. You can bet that the policy changes referenced by the OP didn't come about because everyone was honest and punctual.

With the millions of people and transactions they handle, I'm pretty impressed. When buying something, I appreciate that the seller won't get my money until I'm confident I've not been ripped off....especially if it's someone that's new or has limited or dicey feedback.

CL results in more spam and creeps at your doorstep among other challenges. My 2 cents.

Just got my red star (1K feedbacks) so I'm all in.

Yeah not as user friendly as the old days but still serves a purpose.

My feedback rating? 100% of course.

I only buy from eBay when someone has a store. Once that didn't work out either. I bought some welding supplies from an eBay seller. Each was a BIN transaction. When I finished I realized that I could be subject to separate shipping for each item from the same person. So I contacted them through eBay messaging and told them which item #'s I had purchased and asked them to put them all in one box. Little stuff like tips. Then I realized I needed even one more item, so I called the folks in TN or somewhere and went through it again and asked if I could add something else.

They verified my CC and said it was done. I got the stuff and my CC was billed. Along comes eBay and tells me I have an invoice that I haven't paid. We went round and round until I wrote the nastiest profane laden email I have ever written telling them I would be so delighted it they banned me forever and took me to collections and court.

Never heard a word back. Still in good standing.

I would never buy anything from an individual on suckBay. I throw stuff in the trash before I will sell it on flushBay. I tried selling some parts here on PPPFS and got rid of most of it. Just threw some new SC brake pads in the trash after no bites for a month and a half.

Good enough for me.

I see the other side of the coin.

I like that they are keeping buyers safe in the market place with some simple rules.

You guys would be complaining much more if your money was unsafe/stolen or if a transaction went wrong without protections.

They can't do a person by person case by case analysis of the entire community so some basic standards have to be met.

Unless you have a pressing bill, 21 days doesn't sound very bad.

Don't kid yourself. The #1 goal is to keep Ebay/PayPal making money. They stole money out of my account. Quite literally. And freezing accounts with YOUR money in it for weeks?

It was ok when you could buy with a CC but it seems like the vast majority of sellers only take paypal anymore... and I can't abide paypal.

Oh, and my CC always have my back with online purchases... my wife plays that "but paypal protects me" song but I'm not buying it... if you are using a reputable credit card company THEY will protect you.

Paypal is just an elaborate ruse to get money out of you... IMHO

Same here.
For the first time, I paid taxes on purchases last week. I called them, they said AZ is a tax state. Oh well...30 bottles of Mobil 1, still a good buy w/tax.

If you enter a tracking # into the system, it will unlock the money three business days after the items arrive.
