Skinless Human Cadavers - GRAPHIC VIDEO, National Geographic Produced

***GRAPHIC, BUT in a fascinating learn your body artistically engineering way***

National Geographic Produced, so while sorta icky, it's cool learning in a gross zombie kind of a way.

Skinless Human Cadavers - YouTube

no need to take this into PARF.

I seen that display here in NYC at the South Street Seaport.

Pretty wild.

I went to see that display when it was in San Diego. It is actually pretty neat. All of the deceased involved with the process were volunteers.

I worked on all three of the exhibit when they were here in Los Angeles (Tech, I did the lighting).

One morning the clean up crew all called in sick so they asked me to wipe down the display cases... imaging being in that gallery for two hours all alone.

There is actually a spin off/copy cat show touring too.

This guy has several shows touring simultaneously, the latest is about sex... that is right.. cadavers boinking... have not (fortunately) seen that one.

Some of the early corpses used were from China. Some with gunshot wounds to the head. Many of the western volunteers are either really old or severely deteriorated from mid life terminal disease, so they cannot be used for a nice exhibit ...

Von Hagens forced to return corpses to China | World news | The Guardian

The Von Hagens guy is a very controversial figure in his home country. His main exhibit a few years back was pushed out of Germany because he could not document where the bodies were indeed coming from. He also called himself a professor though he wasn't. Possibly brilliant but definitely sleazy character that is in it for the money, IMHO. I would not go to one of his shows.

I would have fun lighting this though I doubt that the local science museum has the extra fixtures i would want to do it with-

My son is a med school student and the anatomy lab at his (unnamed) school has a plasticization lab, apparently one of the few. One of his jobs this summer is to prepare several bodies and body parts for plasticization. He told me a funny story about wheeling a body through the Hospital at 5:30 in the morning so that they could MRI and CAT scan it as part of a project he is working on.

Apparently one of the techs couldn't figure out what the one item on the screen was....it was the unmoving heart, she had never seen this as she never had a cadaver in the MRI in her 10 years there. My son said it was fun stuff!

FYI he will be a GREAT Doctor!

Well worth seeing one of the exhibitions if you get the chance. I once worked at a museum hosting it. It's REALLY interesting to see how the bodies are kept up to snuff. Von Hagens is a weird dude, thats for sure.

Absolutely fascinating!

I find the human bone and muscle structure to be extraordinarily beautiful. We are remarkable creatures.

Thank you for saying that... I didn't want to comment because I was/am too close to the action... we had the first show in the USA when the China thing came out.

Having to see the show everyday at work for months on end I slowly transitioned from grossed out... to fascination... to disgust.

It was kinda funny... whenever I had pain... I would go to one of the dissected cadavers and see exactly where the pain was coming from.
