Wow, those prawns from the supermarket are great.

And cheap! a whole pile of them for $10.

But did you know... The cheap ones are imported from Asia and have been factory farmed in sewage ponds. Yes, it's a cheap and easy way for some Asian countries to semi treat their sewage before they dump it in the sea, and the by-product of it; lots of yummy prawns.

Plus when you tear the head off them and peel the shell off there is always a lot of that colored guts stuff left on, and you think "Never mind, it adds to the flavor." That is someone else's poo that the prawn hadn't digested yet.

They dump a whole lot of chemicals and antibiotics into the water to keep the disease at bay too, so this finds it's way into your prawn meal.

If curious google are asian prawns raised in sewage

eh, I used to watch people sht in their rice paddies, you still eat rice. Buy wild caught shrimp from the US. Some people think of filter feeders as the trash bags of the sea.
I think I can eat anything I cook. Don't get excited, there are a lot of things I don't eat.

Well, I eat them once in a while, but don't expect me to be your prawn in this conversation.

Haha, I've been eating mussels since I was a bubba (not bubba the gangsta, but bubba the baby). Buy our New Zealand mussels We have even more coastline than the US and ours are farmed in the most out of the way places. 100% fresh seawater.

Our expensive prawns are from Australia, flown in that morning, and even earlier that day swimming in the deep clear waters off NSW, so I'll only buy those ones from now on.

I don't buy Chinese seafood. I try not to buy any Chinese food, but for Asian stuff there are sometimes no alternatives. Try to find 1000 year eggs made in the USA.

Same thing with Talipia from what I have heard. And a lot of the "Maguro" tuna in sushi places isn't Maguro.
