Yep, I can make a fluctuation of 20 points just by elevating my arm. 112/59 a few minutes ago. I can live with that.

Center for Disease Control just said that the salt thing is not true, in fact, many people don't get enough salt.

That is not true in the United States. Extremely rare that someone is not getting enough Sodium. Potassium is a different story.

Water follows salt, it is an osmotic pressure thing.

135/74 on half dose of my meds. I guess I should step if back up. I feel better though.

BTW, 195# at 6'0". I'm a little heavier than when I was working. About 185 most of my middle age life and beyond. 175 when I was racing karts until age 43.

You all sound pretty lucky. I have hereditary high cholesterol and high blood pressure. (both sides of the family) I eat healthy and get plenty of exercise. Normal for me is about 140/85. I am on a mild dose of Metoprolol, 25mg. (a generic for Toprolol XT) I also take 1500mg of Niacin a day for the cholesterol. I feel as healthy as a horse.

I'm also on Metoprolol. Is your Niacin prescribed by a Dr. or are you own with that?
Timed release Niacin?

Don, It was suggested by my doctor. I tried prescription drugs for the cholesterol and they were not working for me. The niacin I am taking is Sloniacin. (brand) I have tried other brands too. This one works the best for me. It took a little while to build up to the 1500mg a day.

Thanks...I'll look for Sloniacin...I now take Nature Made 250 mg (2 each/day).
I hope to eventually get away from statins/Trilipix via diet/workout.

Where did you read that tcar? I have read just the opposite in fact most Americans are way OD on sodium (salt) from processed foods which is a direct contributer to high blood pressure.

CDC Online Newsroom - Press Release-Nine in 10 U.S. adults get too much sodium every day February 7, 2012

http://www.cdc.gov/salt/

What we may be low on is good sources of iodine.
