It comes to us all.....

Mom passed away yesterday. It was not unexpected. 94 years old & 70 lbs. She had been wasting away & not eating for the last 2 -3 months. Her heart just quit working....not a heart attack as such, just quit supplying enough BP and the lights finally went out. Sounds painless to me.........better than most ways out, me thinks.

My older sister & I are all that's left of my family and we get along OK.....not like we were young:eek:. The sharp edges have worn off both of us.

Gonna have to sell the homestead in Kingston, WA. 10 wooded acres with a small Cedar house. If I were 20 years younger, I'd be on it like flies on horse****.:D

My heartfelt condolences, JP. :( She sounds like a great lady and a great mama.

First post of yers I've ever seen with no funny-spelled words. 'Nough said.

God speed. My wife and I both were "orphaned" on the same day - New Years Day 2012. My dad and her mom (last surviving parents) passed within 12 hours of each other. It's an odd feeling. Time marches on...

Sorry to hear your Mom passed away, JP. Hugs for you...

Sorry to hear of your loss. Being orphaned after a lifetime of having an elder is a bit disconcerting. It's like you are suddenly flying solo. I'm glad your sharp edges are gone. They don't serve much purpose inside a family.

pete3799 07-30-2013 09:08 PM

So sorry to hear, JP. I imagine her being in her 90s she had lots of life stories to tell. Glad you and your sister can support each other during this time. Talk about the nice memories of your mother with her.

Big hugs.

JP,

Heartfelt condolences from one whose feet stepped onto this path 13 years ago this month.

I know what you mean about the 'sharp edges'. I fought with the sister closest to me until she moved away, then suddenly I realized she was my favorite.
I'm glad you can be there for each other and that you had time to prepare for this.

Best
Les

So sorry for your loss, 94 was a good run.

My Mom is pushing 90 and in a assisted living place, can't walk about 90 lbs now.

My brother just informed me this morning that his son passed away this morning, he was 44, died of liver failure.

MBAtarga 07-31-2013 01:43 PM

My condolences as well.

I'm sorry about your mother but delighted that the rounded aspects of both your lives will help put your Mother in quiet perspective.

I'm batting .500 with my two older Sisters.

M.D. Holloway 07-31-2013 03:32 PM

Dude - sorry about your Mom :(

Any info on the land ?

J P Stein 07-31-2013 04:10 PM

Sure, here's a pic......"Shady grove, my little love, shady grove I know........'
Name that group.:D.
It's tough to take a pic of 10 acres. It's FS but not listed as yet.
Raw land up that way is going for about $15K per acre. This plot can't be sub-divided. ......

Sorry for your loss, JP -- wishing you all the best. Went through this w/my mom last year. Sounds like you had time to make the most/make the best of the time you had with your mom before she passed; good for you.

One silver lining for us is my brother and I became much closer as we cared for mom the last year or so before she passed, and working through her estate afterward. All the sibling baggage that had appeared to be a bigger deal previously became pretty much insignificant as we rallied to her support and care. I think that made mom really happy, too.

My sincerest wishes that you're able to build and sustain a closer bond with your sister, and to remember your mom with the greatest love and fondness.

Dale
