Moving Cities - Your View?

For those of you who have moved around during your (adult) life.

Have you ever moved back to a city you previously lived in? Or do you believe in always moving on, no "been there done that"?

Thoughts, considerations?

Out of a dozen major relocations throughout the country, only two were back to a previous city. One was dictated by the Navy, so there wasn't any choice in the matter. For the second, my wife and I chose to return to a city we previous lived in for job-related reasons. This latter case only stuck for about 18 months before we moved again to someplace new. When we retire in the near future, it's to yet another new location. Happy feet.

One of the reasons I joined the Army was to get the hell out of my town (grew up in Tucson, AZ). After lots of moving around, I realized how much I like Arizona, so moved back when I got out. I still get the itch to move/go somewhere else, but I haven't found anywhere I like as much as here.

Post pics. Maybe someone will offer to take her off your hands.

I moved back to Boston, once. But that was for schooling, so not sure that exactly counts in the question you're asking. But if you like a place where you've previously lived, why not?

I'm in the early stages of moving from Seattle to Spokane. A much smaller city my parents grew up in. My Mom moved back there after my Dad died and one of my sisters is there. I'm in between girlfriends, Seattle traffic is driving me crazy, I have a bunch of buddies I race cars with who are also in to beer, wine, motorcycles, staying fit, cycling, etc. and my Mom could use more help as she ages.

It hit me a few weeks ago, I need to just sell what I can, quit my job and move. I've never done that before, always did the responsible thing. This just feels right and the cost of housing is 1/3 that of Seattle.

So, the house goes on the market in a few weeks and I'm on my way, hopefully. The house does need to sell but the market here is strong.

So, not moving to where I've lived but am moving to where I want to be. In a sense moving home a bit to be close to family I haven't lived near for 40 30+ years. Scared and excited at the same time.

BTW, lived in Colorado and loved it there.

opps. you're correct. NO, i would never move back to El Paso Tex...like you, i went back to UTEP to get my CE degree, but ran back to san francisco, 2 weeks before school ended.. missed finals..hehe. dumb guess on my part, but it was a WIN in the end.

in summary, i did this...EP->SF->EP->SF..so yes!! i dont explore much.

Born and raised in Long Beach. Moved out of state for 2 years and lived in 2 states each for 1 year at age 40ish. I lived in small towns of around 25K but next to big cities with a million. Really didn't have to give up much but the SoCal lifestyle that I think I have.

Well, it was here at one time.

This is amusing. I like CO and tropical beaches too. But, it's hard to pick an unknown new locale with all friends & relatives planted here near chgo.
Upon retirement perhaps live 6 mos. local then 6 mos. wherever. Change it up year to year.
