As long as we're on the subject, Mrs. Lee and I spend $145 a month on our Verizon data and minutes plan for our two 4Ss. Is there a better deal out there? AT&T coverage SUCKS around here and we need something we can use overseas once or twice a year.

Wow, that seems really expensive, and that's coming from a Canadian - we have MUCH higher rates than you guys do in the states, generally speaking. I pay about $100/month (before taxes) for our 2 phones, 500mb data on mine, none on hers, unlimited calling between phones, 200 texts/month and free incoming long distance (no outgoing LD plan). I'm looking at a new plan that's significantly cheaper.

My iphone 4 has a hard time making a phone call these days. And I don't buy into the whole "2.5 years old is outdated" koolaid BS. Not on a $700 device. I'm finished with apple mobile stuff. I'm going back to blackberry.

Best deal from the major carriers is T-Mobile imho. With Verizon I pay $200/mo for 3 phones with data (that includes taxes, etc). I think T-Mobile would cut that by about $30 or so a month and no contract.

I've actually been nosing around Android phones again. I go back and forth on OSs - iOS is more seamless, some information is easier for me to see on Android without reading glasses (for some things due to the larger screen). The iPhone 5 just works though...

I do not want to have any phone that sends out automatic amber alerts or automated messages from "fearless leader".

meh. don't really care about apps, beyond the basics. I use maps, music, flashlight, banking, and games for the kids. But the fact that I can't get music FROM my iphone onto my computer drives me crazy. That I can only use ONE computer to sync it to is beyond irritating. And HAVING to use itunes, which is probably the worst engineered POS I've ever used, and only gets worse with every new version, is too much anymore.
