do you mean a structure like this that uses a nomex honyeycomb as the cross-sectional supports between the inner and outer skins

more like this - used to have a slide for lectures of the large wing bone, but this should get the basics across




the internal bracings look messy at first, but they are situated exactly where needed to take the force vectors AND they will adaptively enlarge if forces increase (takes a while tho)

another bird trick is - a bit like a 917 tube frame - the bones are used as a reservoir for the lungs
