Hot Rods in CA can be tricky with non original frames AND bodies. The DMV will no longer license pre '76 VW pans with a Porsche body.

Repop frames and glass bodies also need to comply with modern smog rules. Unless you get one of the 500 exemptions issued every year. They disappear before noon on January 2nd. :(

A good buddy of mine has a couple of cars that do wheelies (SG), and he's got a really looooong one with an engine that dyno's at 1004 hp N/A on racing gas (SC) that he built hisself where he used to work (think wood pecker w/cigar).

He's totally cool and a pretty darn good driver not to mention a heck of a wrench, but his kid drives a car with 10,000 hp that runs in the mid to high 3.7's consistently.
Kinda hard to upstage the points leader :cool:

When I wuz about 25 I had a drag boat with an engine pretty close to that one, blown gas hemi.

Well we were drinking one night, and I got triple-dog dared to fire it up. I was renting a room from a buddy at the time and the boat was parked in the driveway that night cause we were going out early the next morning to the riv.

To make a long story longer, who could back down from a triple dog dare?
instead of going to the river I was looking for a new place to live. Oops.

Love the Z28. The rear needs to come down a bit, fix the rear wheel offset to bring them out, and enjoy.

real Z-28 should have a 302 near race motor

The original 70 1/2 Z28 had a 370 hp 350, IIRC. The 302 was history by then.
IIRC, again, the 72 was the last of the 370hp motors. The 73 was a smog motor......a tear or 2 was shed.

My neighbor has two restored '69 302 Z/28s. Even he admits that they are not very impressive from a modern performance perspective. In race form I'm sure they rev like crazy but there is a lot to be said for cubic inches in an 1 atmosphere, 2-valve motor.

Kinda like a Seinfeld episode......except it's a Chebby and not a LeBaron......and it's a 4 door.....and other stuff....
