Well said Vinny.

And as far as 'stangs are concerned....a '90 LX w/Paxton supercharger is quite fun, actually. :p

The Ranchero is neat but is a 59.....

Yep, so I really need the last year of the 356, a SC:D or a 65 911:D

Amen brother. I may not personally subscribe to all of the different facets of the car hobby, but I certainly appreciate the passion and hard work that it takes to create something special and cool.

But hey plenty folks still willing to put a crater in their wallets to buy these things so there must be something to it. I missed out on whole muscle car thing growing up in 60s and 70s being in a Porsche household. We sort of had a disdain for overweight ugly Mercian crap and I still feel that way. Best of luck to those who think solid axles and a big iron block over front wheels is cool. Nothing like signing up for something that is sure to disappoint even after thousands invested in suspension. Best off just leaving them stock and driving them in parades.

how could a car guy miss the whole muscle car thing?
drags + nasty-car then the motors popped up in can-am behind F-1 stars

don't want too heavy
build a corvair with an LS-7 in the back seat

or how about a 23T with an alloy frame + turbo dohc4 and decent IFS and IRS
with good brakes
lotus 7 with a hemi ? [no I would not cut an original but lots of copys are around 1/2 built]
I like autocrossable hot rods

Joe Bob 09-23-2013 03:36 PM

Hot Rods in CA can be tricky with non original frames AND bodies. The DMV will no longer license pre '76 VW pans with a Porsche body.

Repop frames and glass bodies also need to comply with modern smog rules. Unless you get one of the 500 exemptions issued every year. They disappear before noon on January 2nd. :(

You got that right.

A good buddy of mine has a couple of cars that do wheelies (SG), and he's got a really looooong one with an engine that dyno's at 1004 hp N/A on racing gas (SC) that he built hisself where he used to work (think wood pecker w/cigar).

He's totally cool and a pretty darn good driver not to mention a heck of a wrench, but his kid drives a car with 10,000 hp that runs in the mid to high 3.7's consistently.
Kinda hard to upstage the points leader

Needless, we do some pretty good bench racing.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/3nTyjYVDNPo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

When I wuz about 25 I had a drag boat with an engine pretty close to that one, blown gas hemi.

Well we were drinking one night, and I got triple-dog dared to fire it up. I was renting a room from a buddy at the time and the boat was parked in the driveway that night cause we were going out early the next morning to the riv.

To make a long story longer, who could back down from a triple dog dare?
instead of going to the river I was looking for a new place to live. Oops.

I like that one. Second generation, will go up in value. I'd like to see the underside and check the rear quarters with a magnet.

Joe Bob 09-27-2013 08:22 PM

1973 Z/28 "PRO TOURING" Chevrolet Camaro split-bumper 4-speed

Wheel sizing isn't right on the back, anonymous 350, paint looks OK (although I would do cowl hood)

Fake split bumper looks stupid IMHO.

Out in centralia-

$13.5K- PASS.

Joe Bob 09-27-2013 09:48 PM

73 was the last split bumper, right? If I remember it was an RS option.....

What is it that tells you that it's fake?

onewhippedpuppy 09-28-2013 04:49 AM

Love the Z28. The rear needs to come down a bit, fix the rear wheel offset to bring them out, and enjoy.

nota 09-28-2013 06:59 AM

real Z-28 should have a 302 near race motor

by 73 those were gone
does that 350 make much power ?
is the car an original 350/4s z-28 or a clone

J P Stein 09-28-2013 04:20 PM

The original 70 1/2 Z28 had a 370 hp 350, IIRC. The 302 was history by then.
IIRC, again, the 72 was the last of the 370hp motors. The 73 was a smog motor......a tear or 2 was shed.

My neighbor has two restored '69 302 Z/28s. Even he admits that they are not very impressive from a modern performance perspective. In race form I'm sure they rev like crazy but there is a lot to be said for cubic inches in an 1 atmosphere, 2-valve motor.

Joe Bob 09-30-2013 10:23 PM

Kinda like a Seinfeld episode......except it's a Chebby and not a LeBaron......and it's a 4 door.....and other stuff....

Front turn signals are mounted low, should be high - above the http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0017_large.jpgbumper.

Common mod.
