The new VW microbus. Will it come? When will we know?

Does it matter? It's wearing the suit, but doesn't have the mojo . My 84 vanagon was the best vehicle I ever owned.
Not super trustworthy.
Not pretty.

But that thing had the soul. Always will. I imagine microbuses have it in spades.

That thing above does not. Its a golf 6 with a big nose

Microbus? Looks like it's the size of a Honda Fit.

That looks like a girlie bus. It needs some BRG and all wheel drive.

My brother has a 1974 VW Camper. He has had it since 1976. He does not remember if it is 300,000 or 400,000 miles. He figured there have been over 100 deer on it's roof. People want to buy it all the time and he asks them the same question. What would I replace it with? He uses the thing regularly.

I do not see this as being an actual "replacement" for the venerable VW bus, but I find this to be rather charming. With a manual trans and a turbo-diesel it would make a helluva little run-about car.

Until there's an AWD pop-top camper version of this, it's just another SUV.

Media says Touran platform, i.e. FWD or AWD, with diesel and hybrid variants possible. Other pics I'm seeing are more Kombi-like than the one in the first post. I'm looking forward to seeing the next Microbus.
