Sad.
I was always a Lou Reed fan (although he didn't always turn up for his concerts ).

An amazing artist. With all that comes with that...
"I wish that I was born a thousand years ago I wish that I'd sail the darkened seas On a great big clipper ship Going from this land here to that In a sailor's suit and cap Away from the big city Where a man can not be free Of all of the evils of this town And of himself, and those around Oh, and I guess that I just don't know Oh, and I guess that I just don't know"

He was a huge influence and changed the music world (and mine as a musician) for the better.
Saw him a few years ago at a small 1300 seat auditorium. I gained a new respect for him when he refused to play "Walk on the Wild Side" after a few audience members called out for it. His catalog is so extensive, diverse and groundbreaking; it's a shame that most people only know him for his one (or two) radio hits. Gonna put on my old vinyl copy of "The Velvet Underground and Nico" in his honor. RIP, Lou. |
