nope, seen several 97-98 models for asking prices of $6,000... and those are good running cars, not ones that need motors, etc..

Maybe $6k is the new floor for a 'decent' car? There are some questionable cars in that list...or maybe prices are still dropping.

I tried pretty hard to find a good Boxster for $6k and there wasn't any. Each one of these had some serious issue when examined closely. Accident history, scary OBD codes, leaks etc.

$8-10k is more like it for a good boxster IMHO.

Last 98 Boxster I looked at was $8500 and damn near a new car with no problems, excuses, issues. Decent Boxsters will hit $6K next year but like the 944 and 928, there will be a lot of scary cars out there as time marches on.

Let me ask this: If the IMS was done along with clutch and other good maintenance, how high is too high for a 1999? Looking for ballpark, here, rather than an armload of caveats. I can handle the issues up to a point. Say good example, 85,000 miles?

There may be more affordable ones, but you won't find one that's more turn-key.

Looks awesome. Nice ad. I hope it sells quickly for you.

I can't buy right now, but that's what I want,

Interesting that I can't bump your FS thread. Best to you Matt. Good looking 996 you have and hope you get top $$. Not many owners are as diligent as you.

Edit. I have a bunch of home projects that are taking priority over my car. Might have to liquidate for the short term to avoid borrowing. No worries...there's always a cleaner one out there. :)

Thanks guys. It won't be my last one. David, I believe that replies to vehicle for sale threads was banned some time back after too many rude replies.

What's next in line?

onewhippedpuppy 07-03-2014 08:56 PM

It may be a little while, some job stuff needs to pan out first. We shall see.

Not nearly as nice as Matt's, but cheapish...

porsche4life 07-04-2014 08:44 PM

I like yellow, but that one is horrid. Has to be a speed yellow for me...

onewhippedpuppy 07-05-2014 05:52 AM

My Boxster was Speed Yellow, it really grew on me after a while. That yellow, however, does fugly really even fit? Not to mention the random Aerokit front spoiler, 17" base wheels, nasty burlwood trim, and the fact that it desperately needs a detail. I'll never understand why people list cars for sale without even cleaning them.

porsche4life 07-05-2014 07:06 AM

I don't get it either. A couple hours just vacuuming and wiping everything off would help that car so much...

biosurfer1 07-05-2014 02:32 PM

Not to mention it's hard to trust a car is mechanically decent, if the owner couldn't take the time to make it cosmetically decent

David

I believe Pelican stopped allowing comments on the FS board (except by the seller). Saved a lot of bandwidth and bad blood but that section is no longer anywhere near as fun to read as it was before. :D

Wow, that color is amazing.
Pity she's got to go...

1990C4S 07-06-2014 06:23 PM

He's not a serious seller. I offered $12,500 months ago...
