I recently purchased almost that identical car (sans the wheels)from a fellow pelicanite.Mine is a 2005.(don't see the year on the one you are looking at)After buying tires I have about that in mine. They are beautiful cars and if you drive it you will buy it! I let my 29 yo son drive it yesterday. I have never seen him with such a shat eating grin! All he could say was wow.I think that car cured him of his Mustang fever.
Thanks for the info. The car you bought is gorgeous. The local one in this ad is a 2004. If it is a bit high it may work to my advantage. I will know about a new job in a few weeks and if that happens I'll get much more serious. I'll be spending more seat time on longer drives and want something fun to make the couple of times a month 600 mile round trip something to look forward to vs. despise. The all wheel drive in the winter is a big plus for our climate.

I know a guy in OK who has an '04 C4S in yeow. Gorgeous car, and he says it's brilliant in the snow, even without snow tires.

Not compared to the interior...

Funny, I said the same thing about the `89 C4 posted a while ago, and it had the same exact wheels. Also, there is no way it (the yellow 996 Turbo) has 30k miles. No way...

Why do you say that? My 02 turbo has 24k and my seat bolster has some wear and the same wear patterns in the supple leather. Now that I think about it, my 91 turbo with 20k had the similar wear on the supple leather.

I'm going to look at the 2004 C4S posted on page 60 tomorrow. The posted price was lowered to $27k yesterday. The owner works at the local P car dealer. I'll report back for those interested. This thread is dangerous! I'm a few weeks premature looking at anything with my job situation but might as well go have a peek :-)

Just the level of wear and layer of dirt/grime (not just the seats). Assuming that car is detailed and sale-ready, it looks like more-than-average wear for 30k miles (especially on a 911 Turbo).
Scroll down on the listing and look at the close-ups of the seat controls, hood/trunk release panel, center console, and dash trim. Also, the leather on the steering wheel is already worn smooth.
The LR taillight housing/bumper and the deck-lid/bumper gaps are off (possible previous collision damage/repair).

Maybe it hasn't been clocked, and it was just rode hard for a bit. Or, that is just becoming the new "normal" for 30k miles, as these cars age (with or without miles put on). I still say something is rotten in Denmark. YMMV...

Just noticed he raised it back up to $27.5k, lol...

Might check this one out. It's $2400 more (and further away), but only 64k miles:

does a guy/buyer need to read the ECU before buying to check that the mileage is correct or can it be tampered with?

If you have a scan tool, it's not a bad idea. You can also see if (or how many times) it's been over-revved as well. And yes, digital odometer readings can be tampered with.

Oh, and I just looked at the listing for the yellow 996 Turbo again, and noticed that the Autocheck does list a mileage discrepancy. Shocker!

That looks like a nice example. Question then, assuming the lower mile car has not has the IMS or clutch done, is there still a big advantage to the lower mile car assuming the interior/exterior condition are roughly the same? I would assume a car approaching 70k in miles will need the items the other car has; IMS, clutch, suspension and other bushings, alternator, cat/o2 sensor

Has this one come up? 2001 turbo with branded title in/near Portland

From the ad, he is asking $29k, 129,000 miles.

First off the car does have a title history. It was very minor, the front bumper was torn off. I do have pictures before the car was repaired by a German specialist shop. And my title says BRANDED-WA. There is no issues with the car. It runs and drive great. Transmission is good and shifts smooth. The motor is strong. It has a fabspeed exhaust. Fabspeed catalytic converters. X50 exhaust tips. Fabspeed turbo manifolds. Fabspeed air box. Evoms ecu tune upgrade 1.1 bar. It's a $9000 dollar kit by itself not including labor for installment. Everything was installed by benchmark motors in Bellevue. Car makes 610hp. Bilstien shocks. This car has all the extra options from the factory. It's a six speed manual transmission. Upgraded clutch. Gt2 rear trunk lip. Gt2 front bumper and precision porsche front lip. I'm asking $29000 with original porsche 996 premium chrome 18inch wheels with like new tires. And if you'd like 19inch fodgeline 3 piece wheels with new tire I'd sell it for $31000. Wheels and tires cost $7500 Alone.

That is posted here in Sacramento on CL too...I'm sure there is much more to the story.

Westy 07-24-2015 08:40 AM

That car would never pass CA smog.

creaturecat 07-24-2015 10:46 AM

he should really post up the before-repair pic, if the damage was indeed minimal.
it seems like a beast.

onewhippedpuppy 07-24-2015 11:53 AM

Nice upgrades and price on the black TT. I'm also curious about the story, insurance companies don't salvage a car that expensive because the front bumper was torn off. The front bumper cover is plastic and not all that expensive. It also has the original hood, which you wouldn't expect if there was a serious front impact. Maybe there was underbody damage?

porsche4life 07-24-2015 11:59 AM

It maybe the bumper was torn off as it went for a swim?
