Mike if you come get that car, you need to bring it by the shop and get a chip tune for it. Wake it up a little bit! ;). I can go take a look at it for you if you'd like?

Sounds good! I am gonna post the Targa shortly...

This or matte riviera blue, or satin ocean shimmer(gay name for a nice color) would look cool on a 996

I'm getting closer to being able to get back into a 911.
I don't have big bucks, which is why in the past I owned an SC Targa and a 964.
Those are both commanding crazy prices nowadays!
So it looks like the most affordable 911 is the 996.
Any thoughts on this one:

I live in Japan and this is about as cheap as they come (about $20K).

It looks like it has sport seats and leather dash...I haven't gotten in touch with the dealer yet...
I like the wheels too.

The sport seats and leather dash look good, and no rear bumper pads. Low miles, too!

Looks like a nice car. Sport seats are a really nice upgrade.

The RoW is lucky, they look so much better without those damn ugly bumperettes.

unfortunately wife says..."But it's silver" and "where are you going to get the money!"
The hunt is on though...

What's this "common rear spoiler" issue he talks about? When I got my 996 the spoiler bellows were ripped, but it was an easy replacement. Other than that what can go wrong with it?

The TT spolier seems to have a lot of issues, I guess they are hydraulic. Lots of threads if you search.

If it was properly repaired with documentation as he claims, that's a smoking deal.

Ah, thanks. I had no idea it had a different arrangement than the normal 996 cable drive.

It could be a great buy even if it was poorly repaired...a pretty cheap daily driver.

dan79brooklyn 04-15-2016 04:49 PM

What's up with the modifications to this engine?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1460764060.jpg

I'm seeing a couple parts that don't look stock, but the 996 engine bay is still pretty foreign too me...
