That's my car, and I have yet to get a single hit on the ad. I paid $15500 8 months ago. Not sure if I paid too much, or the market is just terrible...at any rate these cars have become extremely affordable.

That looks like a decent buy. Maybe your location is too remote?

If it were me, I would add more details on the mentioned flaws, ANY maintenance you have done, and lots of pictures. Pictures sell cars online, period. Otherwise it's priced pretty fairly.

So, WRT a Boxster S (ok, so not a 996), I've been looking at MY cars 2000-2004. Would you go with a lower mileage car with < 50K or a higher mileage car with the IMS kit?

I've been looking at both. I fear the low mileage car has not been driven (hard) enough. Although I'd replace the IMS bearing right away.

Crazy deals to be had on these cars right now. Gotta love SoCal for something!

Buy with confidence. When I was looking for my affordable 996, I contacted Uncle Scott about his car. He was prompt and answered all my questions honestly. As the ad says, this seems like an honest, no stories car.

Higher mileage wouldn't bother me. If the IMS is done it should be a solid car.

Agreed. They are overall solid cars, but need to be driven. A higher mileage car can actually be better in some ways, because some of the maintenance items should be taken care of. I bought my car at 95k with a new LN IMS, clutch, and 90k service recently performed. It was less than a lower mileage car and had thousands in maintenance already done, maintenance that a car with 60k would be needing in the near future.

I've been following early Boxsters for about 5 years and asking prices for a decent 2.5 has maybe gone down 20% in that time frame. They're about as depreciated as they'll get.

Early Boxsters and good condition late 944s can be had for similar money. The Boxster is exponentially more car, I don't see them going any lower.

I have seen decent Boxsters as low as $7k. That has to be close to the bottom.

After I get my Box fixed then I will find out what it is worth as a trade in or sell it privately. I see in the Calgary/Edmonton area Boxsters below $10k seem to be selling but anything above does not seem to be moving too well......
