I had one of those tranmisssion noises in the 993. "probably a pilot bearing" uh-huh! Rrrright!

About $8k later I had a new Guards LSD differential, steel synchros and shift fork, a full rebuild and no more noise!

2003 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S - Long-Term Road Test - Car Reviews - Car and Driver
If you have good roads, the car is very smooth riding and comfortable. On rough roads and on 19s, the car gets pretty bumpy. However, I do think my 930 is easier to exit than the 996tt.

No more room at the inn. I'm afraid the 99 would have to go.

I agree with the disdain for silver. I've always said no silver, white or black....

Then the last two vehicles I've bought have been fing black! A truck and now a motorcycle. But they are both short term vehicles!

Haha - the car was doing great for many miles. But it started to whine. I didn't buy it like that.

Silver is not only boring, but it also resists repair if there's a ding or scrape in the paint. For real world use, I avoid silver and other metallics. If I were building a show-only car, then I'd definitely lean toward metallics.

Every time I take my Turbo somewhere, someone makes a positive comment about the color. It's a relief from the 'safe' colors now so popular on Porsches.

That car is the bomb in that color. Yellow is a color that can be so awesome if it's right and so awful if it's wrong, (this goes for house/building painting as well as vehicles). Porsche has had that amazing yellow at least since the 993, I have an old photo of a 993tt from a gathering in same color and it looks like a million bucks.

It's a fantastic sports car color, well done!

I actually wanted Grand Prix White, but it's super rare on a 996 Turbo.

Yellow works well with the interior -- after I disposed of the beige it came with.

From a styling standpoint, the 996 interior is - IMO - the worst Porsche ever designed.

But I'm super, super cereal.

I've been trolling for 996TTs, 997S or a 1M for like 2 months now. Just waiting for a good one and REALLY trying to avoid talking to dealers. The yellow on your car is amazing. Also, are those sport seats I spy?

How Bad Would the Flaming Be.......

...if a member of this forum ultimately decided to buy a 996tt Cabriole with a Tip tranny? You think it would last much more than a year or so? I have a 'friend' who was wonderin'.
