Springfield .45 ACP XD.....

Got one in Oregon. Blew up some targets and have been carrying it in my recent travels. It's OK.....easy to tear down. The initial rack is stiff. trigger pull is good.

13 plus 1. Sights....gonna press out the rears and go with top mounted laser. The bottom rail mount, stupid.....how do you holster it?

Gonna talk to my gunsmith. Lifetime warranty....the "made in Croatia" stamp make my fingers go numb.....

Ordered the rear sight laser replacement.

Nice! I have the 3.8 compact in .45cal. Nice weapon.

onewhippedpuppy 11-29-2013 05:56 PM

I have a P938, it is fantastic. Slightly larger than the P238 and chambered in 9mm vs .380. Highly recommended.

I have that very gun, pretty nice for shooting, but a bit heavy with 13/1 for carrying, ends up pulling on my pants on one side and annoying me. My wife actually likes it and shoots better than I do, so I got a Springfield 9mm.

Joe Bob 11-30-2013 09:06 AM

Have you considered a shoulder rig?

Red88Carrera 11-30-2013 09:14 AM

The XD is better suited to a shoulder holster. I have the compact XDm. I use a Crossbreed IWB and it is as comfortable as one can expect. The 9-round mag helps to keep it from printing too badly. 4-o'clock position.

FleaBay. $90 versus 140 locally. Uses 2 button batteries.

that LAZAR beam death ray is cool. BUTTTTT............yer going to find it to be IN THE WAY and pushing yer rear sights out is STOOPID!

if lazar beam death ray takes a POO.......................yer in deep POO cuz ya have NO REAR SIGHT!

thats the wonder of a bottom rail on hand spoons. ya can put a LAZAR BEAM DEATH RAY ON or a MEGA BLINDER FLASHLIGHT! and the flashlight is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more useful than the LAZAR BEAM DEATH RAY!

get night sights if it doesnt have than come up with quicko chango on/off mount rail mount under barrel.

holstering them is a giant PITA with anything on. finding holster is a GIANT PITA and most are combat wombat tacticool afghan on yer chest models.

SOP for the last trillion years . serpa holster for 24/7/365. screw leather heat and sweat are not friends of leather.

i have NOT worn out my trillion year old serpa holster. daily carry with robarred hkuspc 9mm with night sights/ambi mag drop button . 13+1 mags.

i come home, pull spoon, take HK UTL light off of nightstand, slap on bottom rail in .00000003 seconds, check light, place next to my wittle head and count wittle elks jumping in front of my tent.

bored, i yank HK UTL light off and slap LAZAR BEAM DEATH RAY ON.

use for daily carry, yank LAZAR BEAM DEATH RAY/HK UTL LIGHT OFF and slap into serpa holster.

samo DRILL for my HKUSP full size .45's and my HK USPCT(compact tactical) .45

keep the freeking REAR SIGHT ON! BUY FIXED NIGHT SIGHTS and when its COLD...............batteries WILL FRITZ so grab some spares.

YOU will thank me for this public service announcement.

P.S. there is NOTHING nicer than slapping either a concealable 9mm/.38/.357/40/45 in yer pocket and its SNAG FREE! and you will find yerself doing that when a holster would'nt conceal say wearing board shorts.

do this CCW for a trillion years and ya get to know "HOW TO DRESS FOR SUCCESS!"

I have the XDM 3.8" compact in 9mm and carry in a crossbreed supertuck. It is quite comfortable. I've woren it with shorts, jeans, and even on occasion with dress pants and a tucked in shirt. It's worked well for me. It's not bad to carry, but it's not great. A slightly smaller single stack gun is even better. I haven't held an XDS, but can tell you that the S&W Shield is pretty nice. I think the weight difference between the XDM9 compact and the Shield 9mm is 25oz vs 16oz.

For you guys that carry the compact, you may want to consider getting a Pearce magazine extension. It give you a bit more room to fit your pinky on the grip without making the gun heavier or more bulky. You can get them for $9 on Amazon.

fwiw, SA has a voluntary safety recall on all calibers of the 3.3 XD-S.
Affected serial #'s should be on their website.

+1

I recently got mine and love it. Operates perfectly, and its a damn nice looking gun. Mini-me's 1911.;)

The one thing I don't care for with the XD is the elevated shooting axis. The slide is tall which places the barrel pretty high above the frame.

i looked at the sig 9mm. not enough size difference in the XDS to make me swap. i would like to see that gun in a 5 or 6 shot, something that can make the grip smaller.

the problem with the XDS is that the barrel sticks down too far. hard to keep it covered.

maybe if it went in the back of my pants.

i would like to see more on the shoulder holster. can you post pics?
i dont understand the 4 oclock thing.

You don't understand why people carry that way, or you don't understand what it means?

If you can imagine your belt buckle at 12 o'clock and 4 o'clock being over your right rear pocket that is where your inside the waistband holster goes.

I have the same pistol and wear it at 4 o'clock and the weight does not bother me.

The new(er) XDs-45 with 5 rounds capacity makes for a nice CCW piece.

Joe Bob 12-02-2013 09:50 PM

Shoulde rigs can have exits at 12 or 3/4 o'clock. Nose at 6 or 9.....
