WooHoo! Closed on the future home of our office yesterday.
After my wife running her accounting and tax practice from our home office for 20yrs., and with me joining her in Jan. 2010, and a growing client base (approx. 350), we've kind of outgrown the office space at home.
This building, across the street in our village, came up for a short sale this past March, and we've been chasing it since then. ![]() It was the former village Post Office and general store in the early 1900's. This is what it looked like circa 1902. ![]() The side closest to the camera is the PO side, where we'll be putting our office. It still has the original Parcel Post window, and many of the original mailboxes, which we'll be working into the office design. Much work needed, and we hope to have it complete by Dec. 2014. Right side of the building is a two story rental, which needs little work to be ready. We hope to have it rented in 2 months to get some cash flow out of the property. Another adventure...never been landlords before. Grant me strength, lord.

So now you will have to walk across the street for your commute to work.
Nice.

For me it is strange to see a building that old. There are very few buildings in all of Oklahoma older than your new place. The oldest commercial building in the OKC metro area was built in 1893.

We're actually in Pattenburg. I use Clinton as a rough approximation, since no one has ever heard of Pattenburg.

Nope, canoes and outboard went. We did get the cool period hand pump fire extinguisher, though.

Man that is an awesome place for an office!!! So much character and will be super cool contrast filled with lots of technology.
My tax practice is a little smaller and I couldn't imagine working out of my house.
