He may already know the car in question since his shop is not far from that area

Thanks. PM sent.

I talked to Pat Kummrow and he was outstanding. I sent him the link to the Mequon car.

I sure hope I hear from the seller!

Best and thanks again.

Ad for the Wisconsin car says rust free, but I can swear I either see a bondo lump or rust under the paint in the pictures of the right hand door. Look at the lower right hand corner of the passenger side door. Looks to be fairly good size.

I agree, Nice catch.

I'm vetting each of the cars via PPI's. The Auto Shop in Birmingham is looking at the Orange one, and a really good guy in WI (thanks ddbach) will look at the one you're discussing.

Both shops are really knowledgeable about these cars...it has been fun listening to them after I send the links and give them a call.

maybe not helpful, but this is the go-to place around here concerning these beasts. I've pondered a few cars on their for-sale site.

2002AD

If I was sitting on gobs of money, this would be in my garage:

Very helpful. The prices are more Cali-centric but that is useful as well.

I am looking for a driver plus a bit: Mechanically sorted without any rust issues, 10 footer paint job, etc. Perhaps more depending on price.

I bought a 1971 Tii when I was a senior in HS, 1975. I paid $1500.00 to a couple in Orangeburg, SC who were selling it for their son, who was on his second tour in Germany with the Army.

I sold my 1959 VW Beetle (which I had driven to SC from Cali when we moved) and 1968 split window VW bus to pay for it.

I drove the 2002 everywhere, finally selling it in 1983 when I started flight school in Florida...I had to have a/c it was that miserable.

So, spin down memory lane, take care of it and then find the next.

I dig the orange one, though the "custom" A/C console is a hairy wart on an otherwise clean interior. The mismatched speakers in the doors aren't much better, though some new panels would quickly fit that issue. For $18k they can't replace a missing wheel center cap?

The beige car in WI looks honest but is so........beige.

The Birmingham guy was all over the a/c, the missing cap, etc...and the other mods.

Man, you are good:) For the price of the PPI, it is worth the time. It isn't nearly worth 17K.

If the WI car guy emails, for the price I can do a lot to make it less...beige.

True, you can do a lot with a spare $10k. Did you see this one?
