BMW in Alabama

If I may impose on the folks here, I have a few requests.

Does anyone know about these guys? Sell My Car Birmingham, Atlanta, Nashville ~ Birmingham Broker

They have a car I am interested in, this one: 1973 BMW 2002 - Used Classic Car Birmingham AL | Birmingham Broker

There are some issues with the post, engine size, etc. And the dash is cracked, the grill isn't stock, etc. I spoke with Parrish and he wasn't much help, said they sell mostly on consignment so the car is with the owner.

Standard, "over 30K spent in the repairs", etc. However, it is worth a look since they are will to chat about price. He also said the owner has reciepts documenting the work.

So, lastly, anyone that you guys can recommend putting eyes on this? I'll pay the freight for a PPI or a Pelican doing a first pass analysis so I can take it to the next step.

As always, thanks in advance. My email is seahawkermr@aol.com

I had a 2002tii in high school and have been thinking about these beauties yet again. I have priced checked these cars for months, the variance is crazy. I have also been up all the BMW sites and would prefer a Pelican reference rather than post 1 on Bimmerforums.

Thanks again.

Just a hunch, but I don't think that is the right VIN.

Sweet car - I lust after those from time to time. Especially in orange.

Eurasian Auto Service was the go to for older Porsches 10 years ago when I was on the hunt. You could start there.

Ian

edit: Bill was the owner's name I believe.

Why did you pass on the one in FL for ~$6k?
Body was in perfect condition to drive around and not worry about a scratch or two.
And leaves ~$10k left for improvements.

I was still in FJ-40 mode. That deal unfortunately fell off the table: Family sickness, etc. on their end, too much stress for the young man to deal with. They asked to be relieved of their obligation and I agreed.

During that time frame I also moved into my wife's 4Runner as my DD. I love the thing long time. Getting an FJ-40 just doesn't make sense at this time.

A small, sporty car does

Ian, thanks for the tip. I spoke to Casey, who was a great guy, but they don't do older BMW's.

He directed me to Paul at the Auto Shop, Inc. Super nice guy, very knowledgeable concerning 2002's. I sent him the link to the car and if it passes his smell test, the PPI is $120.00.

Don: I'm trying to contact the guy in WI about the 1971. Thanks!

If you're going to go the 2002 route, it has to be a roundie

I've seen multiple nice cars go through there over the past several years. However, I know nothing about them. Interested to hear feedback on them.

If you reach the owner from Mequon, WI and need a PPI talk to Kevin Kummrow. Milwaukee BMW Repair, Mini Cooper Maintenance, Audi and Volkswagen Service
He may already know the car in question since his shop is not far from that area
