Vacuum chamber...
Leave it powered down and put it in a high vacuum and boil the liquid out of it.
Have successfully done this with phones.
Too bad your not closer, there is one in the shop.

battery can be taken out by removing the screws from the bottom of the case allowing the bottom cover to come off.

put it in a thin pillow case (bottom cover off) sealing the open end with duct tape really well and then put it in a container upside down and cover it with a few inches of cheap white rice- more the better and seal the container best you can, trash bag etc.

worth a shot

this procedure if you can't have Apple fix it

they will know if it has gotten wet, I'm fairly sure there are moisture sensors in the laptops and definitely in the phones. No need to lie, they are fairly forgiving with new items so admit what happened and do some sobbing.

Take it back to Apple for assessment.
2 years back I had a 6 month old iphone that took a swim in my washing machine ... I brought it back to an Apple Store who ascertained water damage, but they still replaced it free of charge

Do not let the Mac guru open the case. As soon as you open the case you will lose any help from apple.

The way Apple Care works is you have 30 or maybe more days after purchase to buy Apple Care. That's how it works. We buy iPhones for our users all the time and tell them they have 30 days to buy Apple Care. Nothing irregular about that.

There is nothing un-ethical about it either. That's why they give you 30 days.

As I understand it, Applecare will NOT cover spills.

Mine is being sent to a company called "Mac Service" who will repair if possible for about $400.. If not I get to buy a new one and be a lot more careful..

Get a surface or galaxy and sacrifice it to the apple gods... perhaps they will smile down upon you!

I'm not seeing how the various forms of dehydration suggested in this thread would address the sticky sugar (even if it was dilute juice) left behind. Am I missing something?

You're right about that, will need flushed with isopropyl alcohol.

I may be too late on this, but…

my daughter knocked a cup of tea over on the table behind my 17" macbook pro. The tidal wave of tea entered the vent at the back. I wondered why it switched off so suddenly. I picked it up and about half a cup of tee came out of the join between the base cover and the bit where the light is at the front.

I figured it was a write off but I took the base cover off, and left it to dry for a couple of days. I put it back together and switched on. it tried to boot but a 'forbidden' symbol came up. I got online and fooled the instructions on doing a 'scan disk' type procedure. It booted up and the only ill effect is that sometimes the CD rom doesn't work properly.

A friend of mine also poured a bottle of beer into the keyboard of my 13" matchbook and the only thing wrong is that half the keys don't light up any more.

Maybe take it apart, give it a good dry and see what happens.
