I'd pay 12k for that modded Scirocco (what it sold for last time listed but incomplete) if I didn't have a full garage.

Exactly my last Scirocco. Bought new in '81. Sold when I got the 911 as I had no garage space and one would have to park in the drive unless the wife parked in the drive. Right. Got $3500. for it. The buyer dropped a 5 cyl Audi in it and built a custom dash. Sad end to an absolutely pristine car. But... a placeholder for the 911.

I'm considering this one. Two issues: it has a 2.0L but also a supercharger. Not sure the whine is for me. It's also in South Dakota.

It looks like rust has made an appearance in that photo, South Dakota is not as bad as MN for some reason, though...maybe they don't use salt in the small towns or less snow or (?)

Don, he was asking $7200. I think it's sold (posted it on a FB Scirocco forum with a lot of interest), but we went back and forth on it and he sent me a video of it at an autocross event and the whine was really shrill. So the car is not for me.
If I had bought it I would just drive it around. Honestly it's a buyer's stock market so shouldn't be looking at cars and just buying more stock. Many will be double a year from now.

Not a lot of 1981 Scirocco left in that interior. They looked like this:

[QUOTE=Shaun @ Tru6;11811540]This one may do better
No Reserve: 1981 Volkswagen Scirocco S 5-Speed[/Q Aarrgghh, I want this car. But, no place to park it except the drive and it's too nice for that, even covered. Then comes the question of driving it or the 911. Plus winter storage. I loves my Sciroccos and sulked after I sold my 81 when I bought the 911. Be interesting to see what takes it.

I think it will hit $20K Mike and move a little from there. Agreed, I have to start looking at old abandoned mills in central NH.

Aside from the wheels, that's exactly like the car I bought in late 1980. I'd love to buy it, but it's not practical right now.

Thats 81 is a nice scirocco. I haven't seen one with those wheels since I left Germany in the late 80s. My girlfriend had a Yellow 74 or 75 with those exact wheels on it. Very cool
