I admit to looking forward to going 50 odd miles to their compound. We were out in the boonies while the AF was closer to civilization.......they lived like princes compared to we grunts. Really good food by civilian cooks......the KPs were civilians also.....thus the advice to my son. I traveled a bit too.

I happened to catch a parade on the tube recently. The Navy,The Army, the Marines.....all looked sharp passing in review.....the AF were in step most of the time.. I busted out laughing.
Funny..in the AF...we always laughed at folk that thought marching was a form of transportation...and practiced it hour after hour while we did real work. Just a matter of perspective reagarding what is really important.

Also played sports with AF teams against the Army and Navy teams...they were out working out every day for hours while we did real work...yet they were the worst athletes I have ever seen and lost badly in every event. It was even worse when I worked at an AFROTC unit where many of our folks were college athletes...nad the other services had nothing but a bunch of poindexters. Never lost one event to another service the entire three years I was there.

When I recruited...I kept the names of the folks that could not qualify for the Air Force due to low test scores, drug problems, trouble with the law, etc...and sent them to the Army and Navy where they all got in and some became officers. Different needs, different services.
