Retired yesterday, don't want tomorrow
I retired yesterday from full time charter driving. I told the office I would do one more trip for them. I'm in Little Rock Ar. with a baseball team from Chicago. Its 63 and nice.We are leaving sunday morning and the forecast for us is rain, ice, snow all the way from here to Chicago. 6-12 inches most everywhere across southern illinois and into Chicago. Starting tonight with up to 1/2 inch of ice. I am not looking forward to this last drive at all. Probably hard to sleep tonight too. Oh well, wish us luck. And I thought retirement was supposed to a beach in Florida.

Congratulations on retirement. Take is easy on your way back so you can enjoy the rest of it.

Congratulations and welcome to the retirement club. It's both a welcome and unwelcome life change. You will probably be able to make choices impossible before, but the fact you are leaving a productive phase of life may be a little unsettling - at least it was/is for me. It opens up doors and closes others at the same time. Enough of that! Good luck on the trip to Chicago. The storm on the west coast is supposed to be progressing eastward to add to the misery. Be safe.

Have a safe drive. Congrats.

I'm hanging up my driving gloves as well. After 39 years as an owner operator long haul trucker I've had enough.
Be careful on the way back and enjoy your retirement. |
At least you will always remember your last drive back.
Drive safe and enjoy retirement. |
Screw it. Drive them all down to Key West for your Retirement Party. What are they gonna do, fire you? :)
|
Congrats and drive safe!

Congratulations Strupgolf, drive carefully sounds like you have a beach in Florida waiting for you.
And all the other wonder things retirement has to offer. All the best to you. |
Congratulations! I wish you the best retirement!!

Thanks to all of you. We're having breakfast now and its just starting to rain. Oh well, here we go. Talk tomorrow.
|
Safe travels. What type of rig are you driving?
|
Fair winds, Captain!
|
Enjoy your future. Throw away your watch. Go somewhere warm. Relax. Good luck to you.
|
Sounds like you have a few miles under your belt. If I was a member of that team I'd want a guy with experience taking me home. Everything will be fine, enjoy your retirement!
|
All the best for your retirement.
Next goal; move to a beach in Florida. |
Stay busy.
Stay hungry. I've heard stories of too many mechs who retired, sat on the couch for a couple years, then died from heart attacks. |
Congrats !!!!!! But you ain't gonna quit ...yet... Just find something to do while your lookin' for something to do.

Take about a non- event. What the hell good is accu-weather, or doppler radar? I drove through 90 % rain and a little ice. No big deal. They missed this one big time and I'm so happy they did. I drive a 54 pass. MCI motor coach, like the NASCAR boys, but not as fancy. Thanks to all for the well wishes in retirement. I've been working mostly since I was 15, so lots of memories and good times. I hope to play more golf, landscaping, tinker with cars, get it up once in a while, have a cold one. I'd also like to find a small RV and travel out west. Maybe I'll see you down the road. Thanks again.
