That doesn't fit the facts. The satellite pings are not consistent with that sighting. Can't be in two places at once...

My theory:
They were transporting a sedated Bigfoot, he came to unexpectedly in fight.

Didn't they know to keep some Jack Links on board? That explains a lot. Hopefully the Loch Ness monster didn't swallow it while it was vacationing down there.

Black boxes, pinging and batteries. They say the signal last 30 days.

Do we know IF THEY ACTUALLY (or properly) checked the bb on last inspection? And WHEN? Who signed off on the BB inspection? Did they check into that individuals background. I wouldn't second guess anything and every miniscule detail needs to be verified.

Are they replacement type or kept hot rechargeable?

Is the BB capable of functioning 30 days in deep cold water temps? What are the battery specs at various temp ratings?

Lastly - The False Drop... a decoy bb pinging at various locations.

If I remember correctly from my contact with them, the battery in ELTs and CVRs have an FAA mandated replacement interval, I think every 24 months. They are charged by the aircraft electrical sytem when the plane is in operation.

javadog 04-01-2014 11:01 AM

And they are required to last at least 30 days, so they will probably last longer than that.

ELT's CVRs and FDRs all use hard lifed batteries. The units, under the FAA, are performance checked and recertified every 24 months, the batteries are replaced on the OEM's published schedule, usually 5 years.
Very unusual to have one fail before life, I have never seen it. Like most things in aviation, if they say it will signal for 30 days, it has probably been established that it will signal for 60 days minimum, and then derated for safety.

I'm still going with alien abduction. :D

Nobody going with the story of the day: that a fella stashed his phone up his arse to avoid confiscation, and he called out today saying he was being held with the others on Diego Garcia?? :D

While some say it could be a hoax, since the attached pic was all black (locked in a vault with no light yanno), the meta data does suggest some truth! ;) SmileWavy

I can vouch for Nessy, we were having beers and shots in Cabo at the time

Rickysa 04-01-2014 12:30 PM

Well, I'm no expert on Nessie, but Sassie was found about 45 miles from me:

Ok so all the verified, validated, definitive locations of trash and jellyfish have be located.

Can we please get an Engineer on figuring out exactly where the plane is based on actual math?

Screw the satellite photos - it's altitude, speed and fuel come up with a few locations and start looking there...my bet is it will be the "third" location they start looking at.

Racerbvd 04-01-2014 01:33 PM

The are looking in the wrong area, it landed in the Okefenokee swamp, entered a Vortex in the Indian ocean that exited through the Bermuda Triangle

A930Rocket 04-01-2014 02:09 PM

Was that a polar vortex? If yes, it may have hit an iceberg and sank...
