Anyone here hung a flat screen wall mount?

The monoprice mounts are simple also, and much less expensive. Mount one piece on wall, the other on tv, then just hang it on.

I recommend the new HDMI cables that are flexible, or on one of my TVs I used HDMI 'tails'

This is the one I have; Basically you screw the brackets to the TV, bolt the mount to the wall and hook the tv to the mount.

I hung a 65" using a $25 Monoprice mount.

Screw 2 bars to rear of TV using supplied hardware.
Attach plate to wall using lag bolts.
Hang TV

Came with a lockable security feature as well which is generally not needed.

Very well built.

exactly like that!!! That's brilliant and was just what I was envisioning while trying to not cross thread the mounting screws into the back of my TV!!!! Works on the same basic principle as all the construction machinery "Quik Tatch" attachments. So wish I had been able to find one like that!!!

Most articulating mounts you can also disassemble the arm into 2 easy pieces.

Installer error?

^^^^ I caught that!!!!^^^^........Wouldn't be the first time I pushed through a tough situation just to have somebody else point out the easier/better way of doing things!!!! (probably wont be the last either)

Weird, the 2 or 3 mounts that I've had over the years did. Screw the plate to the TV, screw the mount to the wall, hang the TV on the arm, then there is usually a screw of some sort to make sure it doesn't fall off if someone tries to move the TV around, but the TV is supported while you're putting those screws in.

What sort of whacky mount did you get?

I have two types of mounts in my house.

Static, which after attaching all the hardware is as simple as hanging a picture and articulating swing arm which requires slightly more dexterity but still very simple.

For the articulating I could see a 55" TV might be a challenge to hold and see behind at the same time to line things up.

I have my 42" mounted to a brick fireplace (which never gets used as such) using one of these:

It's a little more on price I think but it came with EVERYTHING needed and was a very high quality everything. I liked it a lot, it's pretty secure but easy to change if needed. Plus the install was easy as well. You do need a bit of handy skills but assuming you have those this should be no problem.
