And thanks Supe.

Congrats. Always good to hear about a successful escape story from the Chicago machine.

Congrats.
Now you need to figure out which of the 30 or 40 Peachtree streets is which. Peachtree street, blvd, way, avenue, and road.

Congratulation!
Color me jealous... I would love to move from my current job and location, but I have 16 years in here and 4 to retirement. Hit you with a 5 star.

Congratulations on the promotion/move, Legion.
Yes, summers in GA suck (to me--I hate humidity). I've spent a lot of time there through the years doing various Army schools, and always seem to end up there in the summertime. In the mid-90s, I went to Airborne School at Ft. Benning (couple hours from Atlanta). 3 weeks of doing LOTS of physical exercise, and staying outdoors basically all day long = not a lot of fun. We were quite grateful when it rained on us. Had a Major almost die (literally) of heat stroke. Dumbass wouldn't drink water when the instructors told us to; thought he was BA or something. After they got him healed up, he was banned from ever returning to that school. Other than that, I kinda like GA. Wouldn't mind living there someday, maybe.

I spent a lot of time sailing on Lake Lanier. It's a big lake/reservoir a little bit north of Atlanta. Also some white water canoeing on the Chattahoochee River. I enjoyed my time living in Atlanta.

Dunwoody is an "older" area of Atlanta as it is just at the perimeter North side (285). It is a nicer suburb with commercial signage zoning and landscaping that makes it so. Unfortunately, that also makes the RE market more expensive than other areas further out. It also has some pretty nasty traffic - even more so around the Perimeter Mall area from October to January due to Christmas traffic.

I really enjoyed working in Atlanta. Lived on the burbs (Alpharetta). Traffic is pretty bad...but housing and schools are better.
No too far from the ocean or the mountains. Lots to do. Pro sports and decent college teams nearby. Dunwoody is not too bad. Better schools than most of Dekalb County...but not really on par with some further out. |
