Senna
20 years on now, from that horrible day at Imola. Those of you that have not read this account before might find it worth a read:

A good read for sure! That whole race weekend was ominous with Barrichello's massive shunt, followed by Ratzenberger's death, and then...

That's quite a read.

This hangs on my living room wall. It has been called the saddest motorsports poster ever.
It is signed by Michael Schumacher (he won at Monaco, the next race after Imola in 94). It is even sadder now than it was before.

I've watched the Senna documentary several times now and I can't help but wonder if Schumacher would have had the success he had, if Senna had not raced that day. Taking nothing away from Schumacher, but I still wonder.

I watch that documentary and know what is going to happen, but it shocks me every time.

The article that Javadog posted goes into a lot of detail. Well worth a read.

Its a good read. Not sure the first paragraph is fair though.
"Twelve years after the last fatality in Formula One, the sport lost its most talented and least talented drivers in the same weekend". |

I think if Mr Senna had not died he would have continued to win, get even better if that is conceivable. It would have been sort of like what happened with Clyde Drexler. Clyde the Glide, Phi Slamma Jamma guy in college, very talented player, electrifying and physically gifted. He played his career in the shadow of Magic, the other big guard in the division. If he had come along before or after Magic, it would have been an entirely different story, as I believe it would have been with these drivers.

According to the article Angelo Orsi never revealed those photos shot at the fatal scene despite six figure offers for them.
Respect. angela

I watched the documentary last night on Velocity. It hard to get into it because whenever the movie came to a dramatic or poignant moment, Velocity cut to a commercial with some tattooed hillbilly shouting about whatever it is he does to cars. It was very annoying.
I'll try to rent it so I can see the whole thing.

There was a nice bio on him recently in Motorsport magazine, he worked harder than say, Maldonado, and probably had way more talent too.... |
