If you have Petsmart locally, I've found Petco to be considerably more expensive. More than $5 more expensive for a small bag of Blue Buffalo dog food, and most other things. That's quite a bit... Ask them to price match.

Every now and then we get these phone call from these, "Trade Magazines" that want to "up-date" our info so we "can" continue to receive their product for free. That's about the time I tell them to stop sending the stupid crap, it always goes directly into the trash and to stop wasting $$ & resources.

Then, the next week, we get more stupid magazines that go directly into the trash.

So.........Now, we have changed our strategy, when they call for a "Up-date", we give them one,
"we've moved", heres our new completely made up bullish** address.

Even worse is the constant request that you carry their discount card in your wallet. Grocery, Autoparts, etc. so, since I don't have your card, I'll get overcharged.

Our local grocery store has a store card. I refuse to carry anything more in my wallet so I just took a picture of the barcode with my cell phone. I saved it in a folder for cards and I can find it real easy. I just whip out my cell phone and they scan the barcode right from my phone.

I went into one store that wanted all my information. I told them my name was Mr. Cash. phone number was 555-1212 I live at 123 Cash Street.

If they force the issue:

My name is Lucas Satanicus Buttsleeve. My DOB is February 30, 1940. My phone number is (900)-666-6969.

I've actually had one or two particular dumb cashiers punch that in.

No problems with it. What works is telling them ahead of time that you don't have an account, not interested in opening one and paying cash. Probably wouldn't work at the buyer club big box but did surprise me one time while at wholesale only landscape nursery and a few auto parts wholesalers.

Ask the clerk to scan their own card. Works all the time. They probably don't mind it either as it might be associated to a buyer reward point system.

What really pisses me off is standing there trying to start the pump at a gas station in 10 degrees with a cutting wind while the pump is asking me questions......do I want a car wash (really ?), do I want a receipt, what is my zip code ?

Quit trying to upsell me on everything, and don't send your useless "SALES" pamphlets, or attemp to call me, I only answer local numbers.

Don't forget the gas station + grocery store club card tie-ins that you have to navigate past.

^^^ whiners....haha.

Jeez, if it bothers you so much, have you ever thought about just walking in to the attendants station and swipe the card or pay cash?

Our local grocery store can do the discount by the phone number on the account. I usually will give out the zip code. Nothing else.

Funny story, the store used to be Dick's supermarket and the discount card was called an "insider" card so on the front it had "Dick's Insider".

What, so they can assault me face to face, and hope I buy a Mt.Dew and chips.

My tinfoil hat theory is they deliberately disable the outside POS terminals at gas stations in hopes you'll go inside and buy overpriced junk food.

I spelled her last name Kahoont. knowing that the clerk will look at the receipt and say "thank you Mrs......." then I replaced the card in her wallet with that one and I moved out-

Good news is, once the electronic wallet is mainstream you won't have to tell them anything, they will have it all. And if you're wearing Google glasses and a Smartwatch with heart-rate monitor, they'll know exactly what your emotions were as you walked past each item in the store, and how you spent every fleeting moment.

...and that's just the good news, I haven't gotten to the bad yet
